When my desktop didn't work, I plugged the monitor into my laptop and these symptoms showed up. The monitor worked with the laptop the night before. nfortunately, I don't have another video cable to try.
Upon initial turn-on, the monitor display is all white and the message "Burn In On" is displayed for approximately 30 seconds. The only switch that does anything is the power switch.
My desktop isn't working because a virus took out the hard drive. I had just put in a new HD but the problem happens with both the old and the new drives.
Any suggestions? Please feel free to ask any questions as well.
Thanks, Bruce
SOURCE: LCD Monitor turns off or goes blank after a couple of seconds being on
An all too common problem with lcd's, you would think they would be more reliable after being on the market for years, alas they are not. See if it does the same thing on a friends PC if you are able; if so the you will know the lcd is faulty.

It is probably a bad INVERTER and / or backlight fluorescent bulb.

I had the same problem with my vx2235wm. the symptoms were it would power on with no signal and the blus light would glow. when the PC was turned on it would kick back to the "power-save" state and the desktop would disappear.
To fix this you need to take the case apart (3 screws, one is behind the stand, then gently pry it apart starting at the bottom with a flatscrew driver and pop each tab carefully every couple inches, along both sides and a final wiggle to free the top edge.)
Inside you will find a metal cover, to remove this undo the screws holding the power supply and display ports then unscrew the screws holding it on.
Take notes of where the wires going in are oriented and then you should be able to see two boards.
In this case the suspect part is the DAC which the power supply goes into. On the DAC there will be a part number. In my vx2235wm it was DAC-19M009. Buy the whole board online. Mine shipped for around $40 total. Wait 2 days for it to arrive and installation is pretty much reverse of removal.
My dead display is back in comission, hope this helps with yours.
