Hello, I think I may have posted this problem before, but I don't know if I did it right. I'll just try again. I have an HP 1502 LCD monitor and whenever I turn on my desktop, the display and led just keeps blinking. I have to plug the monitor on/off from the power source a number of times (with the number of times increasing) just to get the display to turn on and stay on. Recently, it got worse. After the usual plug on/off ritual, the display simply showed a white screen with stripes. The on/off button also doesn't work. I disconnected the monitor from the cpu and plugged it into a power socket. This time, the display is black with the message "check video cable", but the on/off switch works. I used a second monitor with my cpu and that works fine, so I think my cpu is okay, its a monitor problem. Also, I don't know if this is a connected problem, but my optical mouse stopped working when I plugged in my second monitor. Is that connected to my first monitor woes? Please help me to fix this. Thanks.
If you don't use an identical monitors, then they may not work if your video card can not handle them. The "check video cable" it means the monitor does not get a signal, and it does not mean that the monitor is a problematic monitor. You can test this monitor as a single monitor (and try to connect it using first video port, and then move it to the second video port).

A blinking blue light indiactes that your power-inverter board is not
putting out what it should. It needs an overhaul which may be a simple
as changing out the capacitors on the boards.
It could go beyong that to transistors or even a bad bulb.
It will have to be opened up to do that.
A picture may show visual signs of damage. If you can take one and email it to me , I'll take a look.

I have had the same problem and now suspect that cleaning fluid from when I cleaned the screen may have seeped in. After a number of things I did over a period of 2 weeks the problem went away completely.
1. You may be able, if that is your problem, solve it quicker with a hair dryer at a distance (no melt down!)
2. Run HP diagnostics and clean the registry
3. Re- install drivers
Like I said I think 1 is the most likely. I went from every couple of seconds to completely solved.
Another possibility is that an MS update may have caused the problem and then another solved it.

You need to replace the bad electrolytic capacitors inside.

SOURCE: My HP LCD comes on when I turn on the power, but for few seconds.
The monitor has blown a capacitor, and if your good with a soldering gun and can locate the cap which will have the top rounded instead of flat, remove it and take it to the electronic store and they will give you a replacement. If the capacitor is bad it won't hold the charge and that's why you only see a second or two on the screen. Make sure you are capable of this kind of work, before you decide to do it.

Hello, thanks for your advice. I'm sorry I forgot to mention that the second monitor that I connected to my cpu as a substitute to the hp 1502 led is an LG 710E. It's not an led, it's the old bulky type, but it works fine with my cpu. Is it still the video port if the second monitor works better than the hp? I'd really like to use my hp again. And what did you mean by a second video port? There's only one in my cpu. Please clarify, thanks!
I thought you use a dual monitors system (the video card has 2 video ports). Based on my research, your LG (CRT) specification is better than your HP TFT monitor.

I've decided to keep using the LG crt monitor until I can get a flat screen replacement. Thank you for your time and advice.
