Although the control panel tells me that it is deleting the document that is in queue, it has been deleting for some time and doesn't seem to be going away. green light continues to blink.

Just stop and restart the printer pool service through administrative tools -> services.
SOURCE: Printing problem
I also own an HP D2360. I had the same problem with eyang and vinerc. I brought the printer to a computer technician and he told me that my color cartridge is busted and needs to be replaced. I bought
a new color cartridge and presto! My printer is working fine.

Sounds like the printer spool is frozen.
Assuming you're using WinXP and logged in as an administrator (or with admin permissions)
START
Control Panel
Administrative Tools
Services
Locate the "Print Spooler"
Right click on this and choose "restart"
This
will restart the print queue and will probably try to print the job
again or delete it properly. If it tries to restart, just right click
on the printer job and choose cancel again..
You may need to repeat but that should at least get you back up and running with other print jobs again.
SOURCE: Docs in queue won't cancel so I can print another document
turn of the printer and unlug the data cable.
go to start>>printer and faxes, open the printer queue and deleted the job.
plug in the data cable and turn on the printer
