Just bought this from individual on ebay to replace the 720 i have (backlight stays on and battery dies). When i received it the display reads 'safe mode 157a'. If i plug into computer via usb it flashes the safe mode code. i've removed battery and installed fully charged battery but same result. When i try to change remote or update firmware its stuck in sleep?

If the screen is still blank after you update the firmware in safe mode, then it is a hardware issue and you should contact Logitech's wonderful support team, given that the remote is still under warranty.
Hope that helps :)

Hi. You will need to update the firmware.
1. In the software, click "Downloads"
2. Click on "Firmware."
3. Update the remote
That should fix it!

Hi There,
One solution I have found online for getting the 520 out of safe mode is to follow these steps:
1. Remove the batteries.
2. Hold the '2' button down on the remote.
3. Whilst still holding the '2' button down, replace the batteries.
4. The remote should now boot in normal mode.
Please note, If the 'off' button is held down whilst inserting the batteries the remote starts up into safe mode.
Hope this helps,
James
