SOURCE: Have blank screen, but remote works. Harmony 890

If the screen is still blank after you update the firmware in safe mode, then it is a hardware issue and you should contact Logitech's wonderful support team, given that the remote is still under warranty.

Hope that helps :)

SOURCE: 520 remote is locked in safe mode...tried

Hi There,

One solution I have found online for getting the 520 out of safe mode is to follow these steps:

1. Remove the batteries.
2. Hold the '2' button down on the remote.
3. Whilst still holding the '2' button down, replace the batteries.
4. The remote should now boot in normal mode.

Please note, If the 'off' button is held down whilst inserting the batteries the remote starts up into safe mode.

Hope this helps,

James

Hi there i have a logitech harmony 520 remote and my son spilt some soda on it. now the lcd display is blank all the time even when a button is pressed, but when i connect it to my pc via usb it flashes...

Please apply the following troubleshooting steps to get the LCD screen issue resolved:

1- Remove the battery from the Harmony Remote for 10 seconds and insert it back in, and test the remote to see if the screen is displayed properly. If this does not fix the issue, please proceed with the following steps.

2- Make sure you have the latest Logitech Harmony Software (version 7.6.0) installed on your computer.

3- Connect your Harmony Remote to the computer. Run the Logitech Harmony Remote software on the computer and Login to your account.

4- Click on the "Downloads" button at the top and select "Firmware"

5- Remote will go through the firmware update, which will put the Harmony Remote back to Factory Default with the most updated firmware. Then software will ask you to select "Yes" to update the remote and click on "Next" to do a remote update, which will take the information on your account with your Devices and Activities and bring them into the Harmony Remote.

6- If this Firmware Update process does not fix the LCD screen issue, try doing a Firmware Update in "Safe Mode". To do this; remove the battery from the remote, press and hold the "Off" button on the top of the Harmony Remote and insert the battery back in to the Harmony Remote. Screen will display "Safe Mode" and then please follow the steps 3 through 5 again.

If this doesnt fix the problem i suggest you contact logitech. when contacting them, do not tell them your son spit soda on it:

Logitech's Warranty is:

Harmony 550 in safe mode

Hi There,
To get out of safe mode, do a firmware update from your PC. This will install the latest firmware and your configuration. Safe mode is a bootstrap designed to recover from firmware corruption issues so about the only thing it knows how to do is reload firmware.
However, if the remote fails to communicate with the PC when it is stuck in Safe Mode, please try the following.

1. Remove the batteries from the remote & check for any stuck buttons especially the Power button that may be causing the remote to stay in this state.
2. If it still will not apply firmware to get out of safe mode, then still without batteries hold down the #2 button while plugging into USB, and it should exit Safe Mode, and say something similar to 'Firmware Upgrade Success'. Even though it says this, still perform the Firmware upgrade since it was stuck in Safe Mode to begin with.

Remote will not respond and is locked in safe mode

I realize this is a stupid response but I dealt harmony for a few years and most of the time removing the battery, waiting overnight and putting it back it fixed things.

If that doesnt work connect it to your computer, download the newest software and update your remote with the same settings and it will update the firmware.

Cheers,
