Our washer door wouldn't open after the wash was done. We unplugged the washer, hoping to reset it. That didn't work. So after researching online, we learned to unscrew the soap dispenser and pull a light green plastic cord. This worked and released the lock.
But now the washer won't work. It will fill with water and the soap will empty into the washer but it won't start to wash the clothes.
How can this be fixed? Should the washer still work without the lock?

Hello , I can help , this unit will not work without locking the door , the wax motor in the latch assembly has failed , I have replaced a lot of these , usually it is best to replace the entire latch assembly , this is what your plastic lock string connects to. you can try to replace just the wax motor first due to cost difference. you can find it in the latch assembly it is commonly maroon in color and 1 inch rectangular. please ask any other questions you may have and tell me how this works out.
