Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off.
I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with
the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the
printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

"Unable to Print See Troubleshooting and routine maintenance chapter in User's Guide" has come up and the usual tweaks don't do anything. Whazzup? I wonder..
I am having the same problem, but I do not have a user manual. is there some place I can go on line and print a copy of the user manual.
I have the same problem with the Unable to print message. I have found that opening and closing the cover resolves it for a short time but then it reoccurs. I cannot find any debris or anything that the troubleshooting suggests.
I have the exact same problem, just decided about 2 weeks ago to start, and I have tried everything it said still, nothing.
Unable to use any of the functions. Says "unable to init. See troubleshooting and routine maintenance in User's Guide" I do not have a user's guide and can't find one on the net.
Prints one page then indicates "Maintenace and routine printer" in users manual. No help
Brother 420C will not print even after cleaning and troubleshooting.
