Whirlpool LDA6900J0 Washer will not drain

When I rotate the selector dial through the various cycles the drum spins and I get a partial agitation from the center cone. When the machine stopped it had just complted the rinse cycle and did not drain and there was an electrical odor and a small amount of smoke. The electric motor does run but the machine does seem to sequence through all the cycles.

LD is long drain error.

If there is a drain problem, the parts that must be checked are drain hose, pressure switch, drain pump assembly, timer control.

Check if the drain hose at the back is kinked or blocked.

Test the pressure switch, blow into the small hose, and use a multimeter to check if switch has continuity.

Remove access panel and get to the drain pump hose to check for ablockage. You will need to disconnect the hose and collect the water.

Keep a container ready to collect water when you undo pump hose.

Ifall the rest is OK, test and eventually replace timer board.Problemwith water pump are far more commonly causing this problemsthenfaulty timer board.

I have a maytag over capacity plus heavy duty 2 speed 10 cycle washer it fills with water fine you hear the motor kick in to girate but doesent spin or you put it on spin cycle it sounds like it is...

The motor is working, but the mechanism not engaged by the helix so the shaft can not move therefore no agitation or spinning. Motor is designed to turn 2 directions: clockwise and counterclockwise for agitation and spinning. Therefore there are 2 mechanisms to assist these tasks. The drain is control by a separate pump and it is still good also.
The tube has to be out to replace the helix for agitation and a part to engage with the spinning rotation to release the brake so the spinning function can work. These parts are cheap, but the the labor is not. Hope this can help

Whirlpool filling and washing, not draining, rinsing or spinning

Check out your outlet filter, probable it is clogged. Clean this out and refit. Most cases when the drain or spin does not work, it is the filter. This is a suggestion.
