Maytag Atlantis Mav8600aww

A friend's Maytag Atlantis has developed an annoyingly noisey timer. The timer makes a load whirling noise but it continues to advance and operate the washer. A separate timer motor is not offered for this model therefore we have order a complete timer. How does the timer knob come off of this machine? Does the attached circuit board come with the new timer, if not does the board come off the timer easily? Thanks, Fix-It Fergie

If your timer has a gray rubber ring on it, the timer is in 4 pieces. Pull the top middle part out. Then there's a white locking piece in the center. Once that's out the other 2 pieces will pull out. Note: The photo shows the top cover removed. The locking pin is the white center. RanchMom

Out of balance switch will not stop washer when load becomes out of balance.

Your switch is bad. You don't necessarily need the switch. Snip the wires off either side of the switch and fuse them together with a wire connector.

Washing Machine staring making a grinding noise now it broken!

No, not the motor. The pump has a steel sleeve that has come up out of the pulley and has locked down the pump. Replace the pump and you will be fine.

My MAV8600AWW top load washer makes a loud steady squeal whining noise in spin cycle. Load size doesn't affect noise. Machine is 7 years old. Any guess as to problem?

Maytag had problems with the berrings on the transmission . water gets in and the berring goes bad rorring as it spins. Dump it and get a Whirlpool.

In spin cycle machine makes squeaky noise.

Your bearings could be going out, causing excess stress on the belt. Take the back off of the washer and check the belt tension. If there IS something stuck back there, you'll be able to see it.

Matayg Atlantis Washing Machine gets stuck in the Rinse Cycle and will continue to rinse for hours.

This is the sign of a bad timer. It is not sensing how long it has been in the cycle. The timer is not advancing. Replace the timer.
