How do you clean the copper parts of the cartridge

Turn the printer on and then fill the paper tray with paper.

If this is an HP printer, press the "Setup" key until "Tools" is shown on the control panel display screen. Follow equivalent steps for other printers by reading the user manual.

Press "OK." If your printouts continue to be faint, show white line streaks or smudges, go to the next step to clean the contacts on the print cartridge.

Open the print cartridge access door. Wait until the print cartridge moves all the way to the right side and completely stops.

Remove the power cord from the electrical outlet.

Press down on the top of the cartridge and lift it up toward you holding it by its sides. Avoid touching the copper area when you lift it out of its slot. Sit it down on a flat surface, such as a table.

Wet a lint-free cloth with water and squeeze out any excess.

Pick up the cartridge by its sides and avoid touching the copper area.

Gently wipe the copper contacts of the print cartridge with the dampened, lint-free cloth. Be careful not to wipe the copper nozzle part on the bottom of the copper cartridge.

Let the print cartridge dry for 10 minutes and then plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.

Reinstall the print cartridge. If your printouts continue to be faint, show white line streaks or smudges, go to the next step to clean the nozzle area (copper bottom part of the print cartridge.).

Repeat steps 4 through 7 and then gently wipe the nozzle area with a clean, dampened lint-free cloth.

Let the print cartridge dry for 10 minutes and then plug in the power cord back into the electrical outlet.

Reinstall the print cartridge. If the ink is faint, or streaks or lines show on your printed pages, the old print cartridge may be defective and cannot be cleaned. Replace the old print cartridge with a new one.

Faint grey printing

According to the service manual for problems with light print image, the cause can be the Developers or High Voltage Power Supply (HVPS). Other possible causes are given as: Developer roller is stained when the toner or developer cartridge is almost consumed. Ambient temperature is below 10 degrees Centigrade. Bad contacts with the HVPS or abnormal output from the HVPS. To replace the Developers you would need to purchase a replacement Imaging Kit CLP-R300A. Any problems in the HVPS would require a factory repair.

It will not print boldly ,it is very faint, yet I thought the ink cartridge was pretty new.It has been in storage for about 16 months though

The cartridges for these printers have a limited lifespan, the ink can dry up after a while which is the result of your feint printing. You can remove the cartridge and try cleaning the tip using a cotton bud (or q-tipp) with just a little warm water. Ensure it is dry before placing back in the printer. If you still have feint printing then alas you need a new cartridge.

Black printing very faint or not at all, cleaning print head makes little difference Brand new Cartridge

Sometimes it will print faint black even if there is a new black cartridge, because the color cartridge needs to be replaced as well.

Make sure that the cartridges are genuine Kodak cartridges, as well, for maximum performance and reliability.

Cleaning heads can use up a lot of ink, by the way.

New cartridges not printing

Sounds like the cartridges are faulty whihc does happen with non hp cartridges. try the cleaning process in the setup/tools menu. if this doesn't woprk send the cartridges back and get another set. The cartridges have their own printhead so it can only be the cartridges at fault

Printer Problems

Hi Terry,

It's hard to imagine software being the problem, however, I never say never.

Have you tried the BOLD [B] tab in word?

Right click on the printer in control panel, select properties, advanced, and see if there's a contrast adjustment or print quality, select BEST

USUALLY this only works with laser printers, but it might be there.

Open the HP Tool Kit and select ALIGN CARTRIGES, and CLEAN PEN, if it's there.

Click start, run, type in wordpad, press enter, type something and print.

Please let me know. I'm stumped!

Deteriorating Print Quality

This is Maltesecross. Turns out that the faintness of my printed pages was in fact due to a low ink cartridge, even though some pages printed out fine and others half-good. Eventually, all pages turned faint, and upon re-installing the driver, I got a low-ink warning (the first one ever). Putting in a new ink cartridge solved the problem for me.

Toner c8061x

If the line only prints with your new toner cartridge that means that the cartridge is defective. You can inspect the drum to see if there is something stuck in the center of it. If not, try to return it and get another one.
