Unit does not work after power outage.

After a power outage the microwave does not operate other than the fan and light in the oven when the door is opened. The unit was unplugged and plugged in again as per the manual with no change. There is no response at the panel from any input on any buttons.

After learning of my options I then consuted the net to determine the approximate cost of parts and I was able to determine whether or not to have the unit repaired. When I called a repair technician I was able to speak with him knowledgably.

That means that either the control board, or the magnetron inside the microwave had been damaged by the power surge.

Call a qualified technician for repair, or call the service number listed on the owner manual for factory repair or warranty services.

Samsung Microwave Oven SMH7159 No Power

The power outage may have been accompanied with a power surge. That can happen with lightning strikes, or if a large inductor (electric motor or equivalent) happened to be on the same power line at the time of the outage. There's a good chance a surge took out the control panel.

No power dead

power outages cause power surges and will damage electronic control boards. I suggest replacing the Control board and checking the interlocking door switches. Whilst inside the microwave check the magnetron for discoloration around the magnetron horn or gun as it were. If it don't look clean and new, otherwise burnt it's bad !

Hotpoint Microwave Model RVM1435BD 001- microwave comes on when I open the door.

Many microwaves have similar issues. Usually, (not always) only the light is on and the fan is running, not the section that produces the microwaves. This problem can be caused by the door switches that are out of alignment or a defective control board.

I have a JVM1850 that was installed 4 years ago. The unit was working fine, then a day ago I received an error display requesting a charcoal filet replacement. No filter is needed since it is vented...

I have a JVM1850 White microwave-over the oven-installed 3 years ago. Last evening the unit would not turn off. The inside light and fan continued to run, however, the microwave was not working.

All the controls and functions seem to operate, but when completed, the unit remained working, as stated above, with the door opened or closed.

MIcrowave runs with the door open also

your door switch is mis-adjusted,furthermore the other safety switch on the door should have blown the power fuse in the unit, because by design for safety it produces a short circuit if door opens under operation,so if door was taken off and replaced it was not adjusted properly

Microwave oven stopped working

This is most common in over the range microwaves. Cooking grease migrates into the door switches, resulting in the symptoms you list. Replace the door primary and secondary interlock switches and you should be cooking again. NOTE: be careful not to touch other wires! Even with the unit disconnected from power, if you happen to have a bad bleeder resister in the high voltage capacitor you can still get a nasty zap !
