My Daewoo Micro Wave Was Spitting Flames Last Night Due To A Hole In The Wave Plate

Hello Stephanie.
Get a new filter and try again.
Otherwise scrap the micro.
It the filter plate rusted through, or is it burnt?
The microwave's Magnetron-wave-guide is just behind this filter plate.
Looks like a small tube with a silvery cap with hole in center.
Very hazardous condition here.
The high energy from it is damped by the filter.
Is there food in the micro when arcing happens?
An empty micro will arc.

Microwave sometimes heats up food and sometimes it does not.

usually when you kill the power and then when you put power back on the machine works it's the computer board that's bad.all you're doing is resetting the board just like your house computer,if something happens to it you shut it down and reboot it,that's what you're doing with the micro wave just rebooting the board.here's the funny thing about micro waves sometimes the part you're gonna change is almost the same price as a new micro wave so i would first check how much the board is,i went on sears and they have the board for 115.00 repair clinic for 235 part number WPW10216347 they don't make this model anymore but you can get a stainless micro for around 290 to 300 dollars and if you buy the same brand all you should have to do is remove the bolts up above that hold it in place and remove the micro wave and the same brand should mount the same way so you won't have to drill new holes or replace the back metal panel.if i were you i would replace the unit instead of the board repair clinic shows most of the parts for this model out of stock so it might be a while before you can get any parts for this model but this is up to you.good luck with your micro wave.one more thing when you were in there did you see alot of grease, this is usually the cause of no heat, the grease from cooking on the stove top gets into the micro wave and on the mag tube and damages it,if there was grease in there i would just replace the unit

Try2910227 serial ywmh2205xvb-0 model arcing on the back corner were the rack sits.Is there a way to repair this seen is the unit was purchaced in June of 2011.

Yes, take the rack out and recycle it. I do not know why these micro-wave company put racks in the micro wave ovens. You get some insulation on the inside the micro flaking off next the rack.

The mega-tron tube is a very high energy transmitter. The energy will come out of the top inside the micro wave oven in a wave guide. Micro wave energy that generation by the tube is high frequency into Gega Hertz. You have a metal tray in side the micro wave acts like a big capacitor it stores energy in form of heat the next you know it look like Marconi is putting on a lighting display.

Leave the wire tie on a loft of bread and put in you micro wave oven to defrost. The next thing you might see is a load bread burning, instant toast. ----The use of micro wave were invented by the British before WWII. The mega tron tube generation very high frequency radio wave and these wave struck an object 100 miles away some of this beam energy would balance back to a receiver-----You have Radar.... I wish you and your family well being and be careful of micro wave ovens it can burn from inside out. GB you...stewbison

My microwave starts however food does not heat up.

Micro wave as the name suggests produces heat when the micro waves aimed at an object causes the water molecules inside the object to vibrate hence producing heat. The gadget responsible is the magnetron. If your magnetron is not receiving ht voltage or receiving but faulty, then your micro wave wont work please take precaution when opening micro wave due to high voltage caps that remain charged sometimes even when it is off.check the high voltage fuse/ diode and capacitor if they are fine and the step up trans former o.k then the only option is to replace the magnetron

Sparks and strange noise when microwave is turned on even when empty inside. i have a ge jvm1850smss over the oven microwave.

YOU SHOULD NOT RUN MICRO WITHOUT ANY THING IN IT / THIS WILL OVER LOAD THE MAG TUBE . AND SOME TIMES FRY IT .. The sparking and arcing is probably a bad wave guide . this is sometimes caused by food splater / it gets in the cracks and corners and then cooks till it truns to carbon which conduts the micro's and thus arching .. clean it good and touch up any burns in the metal and repl wave guide cover. mm hope this will help .. mm

HOW DO WE VENT THE EXHAUST OUT THE TOP OF OUR MICROWAVE when we turn the exhaust fan on it blows out the front but we thought it went out the top so we could vent through a cupboard, attic to the outside

You will have to remove the micro wave from it's mount. Once you have it down, look at the top of the micro wave. There will be a panel that you will have to move from one place (where it is now) to another. This panel will either be on the top of microwave or if the mounting kit has a top plate, it will be on it. The panel normally has two screws holding it in. When you remove it, you will need to re-install it so that it blocks the air flow from coming out of the front. There should already be screw holes where you are to install it. When you have it moved, re-install the micro wave.
I hope I didn't confuse you. The only reason it's not blowing out the top is because whom ever installed it didn't move the panel. All over the stove micro waves come with this movable panel so you can vent it either way you want. If you have the installation papers, it will explain this better. Good luck.

Wont turn on

With the info given, I would guess that your fuse is blown. You can taken the cover off and look inside. The fuse looks like one of the old car fuses but it's ceramic. Most likely a 20 amp. Do not try a regular fuse, it has to be a micro wave fuse.

Q - The microwave display counts down and the inside light is on,  but nothing is heating and the fan is not running.
A - This most commonly is a bad door switch, other possible problems are a faulty relay or solder joint on the power module, but a bad door switch is most common.
Q - My microwave is running and sounds like it is working but will not heat up anything.
A - Many thing can do this but, common things are....loose high voltage wire.....poor solder joint on board.....magnetron.....power relay.....
Q - The microwave makes a loud "hum or buzz" noise but will not heat up the food?
A - 9 times out of 10 this is usually this is a bad magnetron, the other time is sometimes a bad high voltage diode. See components section.
