I don't have anything to do with providing answers for paying customers. I simply review questions posted and provide suggestions or answers. The answer I provided matches exactly with the service notice at the provided link, and Canon will repair your camera regardless of warranty status. I would appreciate it very much if you would remove the "Inappropriate" rating you gave this solution.
If you think that Fixya ripped you off, please take it up with them. As I noted earlier, I receive nothing for the answers I provide, which are probably better than those provided by the paid "experts".
