Leading cause of paper jams is debris/foreign objects that accidentally fell into the paper feed area. Please follow steps below to fix the problem:

1. Remove the sheets of paper from the feeder.

2. Grab a flashlight and look inside the feeder for any debris or foreign objects.

3. If you're willing and physically able, you may also turn the printer over. Any debris should just freely roll out from the feeder.

4. If feeder is clear, place the printer back on the table, open the printer cover and remove the cartridges.

5. Check the cartridge area for any obstructions/debris in the cartridge carrier's path or the paper path.

6. If cartridge area is clear, close the cover.

7. Rebrick (pull out power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds).

8. When the printer turns on, reinsert the cartridges and load some paper. Try to print again.

My canon MP287 cant print.black when photocopy. The paper also started to jam so it cant print. what will I do?

When there is a paper jamb make sure the whole piece of paper is removed because any tiny pieces of paper that are left behind will cause further paper jambs.
If the paper does not feed through the printer correctly then the rubber rollers are dirty/sticky. Clean the rollers with methylated spirits to stop the paper from sticking to the rollers.

My pixma mp540 has a paper jam, but i cant even see the paper to remove it and i have opened all available crevices..!!! please help me, its essential i have access to it tomorrow....!!!!! can i open up...

Hello and Welcome to FixYa!

Paper jam
means their may be small bit paper jam in side

There are some "micro-sensors" that detect a paper jam. There will be tiny piece of paper, or a lump of dust, inside those sensors, thus "tripping" the sensor and saying you paper jam.

To solve it
Open printer cover and check to make sure no paper or foreign objects obstructing the printer feeder

If you become sure that now really there is no paper, dust or foreign objects then
Turn the printer off, and disconnect the AC power-cable. Open the printer cover & now give the printer a "blow-job" by compressed air.
If still problem exist then best & final option is to just contact to any Canon Printers service provider.

I hope this solution helps you

Feed 1 paper at a tym

try freeing up the paper before you insert it into the printer. an easy way to do this so to "fan" the paper by holding one end and letting each paper on the other end be released one by one.
another thing is that you may be inserting the paper too much inside the paper tray. try inserting the paper slowly and stop at the first slightest notch you feel

HP 1720 I making a noise when printing.

Troubleshootinggtabtop.gif
NOTE: Refer to the Testing section in this document for instructions on performing the tests.
  1. Turn the printer off, and then turn the printer on. The grinding or squeaking noise should not occur while the printer is initializing.
  2. Perform a paper path test. The grinding or squeaking noise should not occur because the carriage should not be moving.
  3. Perform a self-test to localize the noise.
  4. Check the printer for obstructions by lifting the top cover and making sure nothing is blocking the carriage movement.
  5. Check the paper path by following the instructions below:
    1. Remove all media from Trays 1, 2, and 3.
    2. Pull out any visible stuck paper.
    3. Lift the top cover, and pull out any jammed paper.
    4. If you are unable to free the jammed paper, pull out the handle of the paper knob, pull the knob away from the printer, and rotate it to remove the paper.
    5. Lower the rear access door by lifting up on the two rear door latches.
    6. Remove the back panel by pushing the two catches inward.
    7. Pull out any paper that may be stuck inside.
  6. Wipe down the milky white strip (see Figure 1) that the front of the carriage glides on with a clean, soft, dry, lint-free cloth.

bpp90119-1.gif Replace the whole unitgtabtop.gifIf the printer is still making a grinding or squeaking noise after following the steps above, replace the whole unit. See Whole Unit Replacement instructions, which are included with the whole unit replacement.
Testinggtabtop.gifUpon replacement of the whole unit, perform a Paper Path test and a self-test as described below to verify that the new unit is functional.
    Performing a paper path test
    1. Press the MENU button on the printer control panel until Diagnostics Menu is selected.
    2. Press ITEM until Perform Tray x Paper Path Test is selected.
    3. Press SELECT to perform the test.
NOTE: The paper path test will terminate only when the paper in the tray being tested runs out or the printer is turned off.

    1. Press the MENU button on the printer control panel until Self Test Menu is selected.
    2. Press ITEM until Print Menu Map is selected.

Paper jam indicator keeps appearing and there is no jam.

SOMETIMES THE PRINTER WILL READ THAT IT HAS A JAM IF SOMETHING LIKE THE INK ISNT CLICKED IN TIGHT OR SUCH. IM SURE YOU MIGHT HAVE TRIED UN PLUGGING IT FROM ITS ACTUAL POWER SUPPLY BUT IF YOU HAVENT I WOULD TRY THAT, IT COULD RESET THE WHOLE THING. IF THAT DOESNT WORK I WOULD JUST GET THE PRINTER IN GOOD LIGHT AND OPEN ALL COMPARTMENTS, THERE COULD BE THE SMALLEST PIECE OF PAPER JAMMED SOMEWHERE YOU CANT SEE OR WOULDNT EXPECT THERE TO BE ONE

make sure you have photo paper in the small tray and the tray is pushed in the whole way. The green light will come on. Load the paper with the shiny side down.

Hi,
In the back of printer you have door. Open it and there you can clear jam. Remove paper but slowly and easy. Close door and it will work fine.
Good luck.

Scanner

plz help me to understand: waisting paper by scanning?????
There is no paper to waist!

The machine scans the whole glass! The settings for scanning can be set by the scan software. Do have a look there. It might be that the settings auto crop the size.
In case you run copy do change the paper size.
