You dont give make or model ...however most likely reason is that your machine is set to something other than "FAX" mode. ie:- it could be in Tel mode, or Tel/Fax mode. Have a look at the display screen.. depending on make and model it may say something like TEL..or FAX in the display.
Check your operators manual for the correct way to set your machine up.
the default is set to fax instead of printer. go to control panel. printers and faxes, then you will see "fax" and "printer", i think you will see a check on fac meaning it is the default printer. Right click on printer, choose default and your problem should be solved.
if u have problems finding the above then you can find something to print, choose print from the file tab, a box will open and it has a drop down menu with the fax and the printer, click on the printer! hope this helps!
if your received faxes look good and this only happens when you fax someone or make a copy, lift up your document feeder and you will see a glass under it that is about an 1.5" wid and runs left to right. something is on that glass. perhaps whiteout or something like that. clean that off good and you should be fine. if it doesn't take care of problem, write back.
Try dialing the number by hand on a regular telephone. If the other end picks up the phone and beeps at you something is wrong with the number saved in the fax machine. If hand dialing the number does not get you connected to something that beeps at you, there is something wrong at the other end.
not like that. A router connects a network to the internet. It works on digital signals whilst a fax works off analog signals so the two aren't compatible. You may want to try a program called bitware which specialises in faxing via the internet. But if your printer has a fax just connect it to a phone line and then you can fax stuff.
It could be a bad drum unit. If the drum doesnt turn smoothly it will make a clicking or grinding noise since it is gear driven. Take out the drum and turn the gear with your thumb. turm towards you. If difficult Thats it. It also could be a fuser gear. good luck Lawrence
