Tip & How-To about Televison & Video
Kids nowadays are pretty smart. So for some of them, hacking your parental control combination is relatively easy. It's usually a simple 4 digit number. And a lot of parents use numbers that mean something to them so as not to forget them. Things like birthdates, the last four digits of their social security number, their street address, etc. Some youngsters are quite bright and can easily figure these out.
The trick is to use a code that is seemingly random. To do this I used the remote pad like a phone pad. by associating the letters on a phone pad to the remote you can use a word that will create seemingly random numbers.
ie: The word "CODE" translates to "2633" or "LOCK" is "5625". Just pick a four letter word that you can easily remember and convert it to digits. If you think you still might forget the word, Write it on a piece of paper and put it inside the battery compartment. If it's found chances are they'll not know what it is. What would you think if you found a piece of paper in your remote that said something like "KITE" or "BALL"? You could even use abbreviations such as the popular "TGIF" etc.
Some people use patterns on the keypad like the four corner numbers or a diamond pattern, I recommend against this as most kids after trying a few numbers will try patterns out of frustration.
