Olympus Stylus 5010 µ 5010 Digital Camera Questions & Answers
How do I fix my digital camera
No need for a repair manual, if you have patients you can replace the screen all by your self? Screen for this camera sells for about 19.00 to 25.00 dollars on Ebay, brand new.
Unfortunately you do have to take the camera apart to get to the broken screen and that takes patients by removing all the tiny screws around the camera. Once you remove the screws you still have to pry open the rear panel carefully, careful not to apply to much pressure along the clips/locks holding the rear panel. The rear panel should begin to pop out as you pry the panel all around. Now you have to carefully see how the screen is held down, might have just some metal frame snapped on around the screen or a few tiny screws? Once you see that the screen is loose be careful not to jerk it out just like that, you have to find the RIBBON that is connected to the mother board and carefully pull it out of its socket, then the whole screen should just slide out. Replace it with the new one the same way you removed the old one, careful when assembling it back together and make sure it the rear panel snaps into place before replacing all the screws you removed.
Write protection
Look at your memory card. SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.
Why camera says one moment and does not seem to want to recognize computer
Most brands of cameras deliver a CD with the camera, containing software, needed to backup, transfer and work with the pictures you shot, to a computer.
Most of the time there is software is for both, Windows and MAC.
Before you connect the camera to any computer, you should install the software. The disk also has the drivers for the old operating systems.
If you lost the CD, or just don't know where it is right now, you can go to the site of your camera brand and try to download the software you need. For that look under support.
If your camera is old, and the brand does not exist anymore, try a freeware picture transfer / editing software pack. Like Gimp or Adobe Photoshop elements.
Just connecting a camera to a computer causes two things. The camera shuts down, and the computer won't recognise the camera. So nothing works.
If you can't get software form your brand, you always can install other generic software like Ulead, Pixir, BeFunkey, Gimp, Photoshop express. Or if that is not possible you could install an external memory card reader and download the pictures via de memory card reader.
Pictures will not download into pc
Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa (

Weird spots on camera screen
go out and purchase you some LCD tv screen cleaner and use that. It is safe to use on the camera screen, see if that fixes the problem.
Cannot remove battery
The type (model) of battery in use will determine the solution;
For most commercially available, consumer products, using a grounded (rubber/non-conductive handled screwdriver) is often enough to pry it loose. If extremely stuck, feeding a small length of twine or string between the battery and the device and pulling gently should be able to pry it loose.
For other rechargeable batteries (cell phones, MP3 players, etc.), you may have to find a way to insert a tool or string into the space for the battery.
Cheers.
Programming mode
I could copy the pages, from the manual, but why should I do that? you better read what is in the manual, direct. I could make an error while typing it from the manual.
