tip

Attention to spark plugs

Pay attention to what spark plug comes from what cylinder, and save the old spark plugs. The cylinders are numbered from 1 to 8 as follows: Front of car Left side - right side Cylinder Bank 2 - Cyliner Bank 1 5 - 1, 6 - 2, 7 - 3, 8 - 4, Rear of car. The reason for keeping track of the old spark-plugs is it can later provide important information to a person who knows how to "read" spark-plugs, if the engine ever develops a problem. Also it is good practice to put the coils back in the same places those were.

1999 Toyota Solara V6 SLE has an engine misfire, Throws check engine codes, is running lean in bank 1 any ideas?

running lean bank one; suggest a bad 02 sensor on bank one, check engine light on? suppose so, or you would'nt have codes.may be a bad coil pack on bank one. it does'nt run without a backfire right? your best thing to do is this. check engine fire to plugs that supply fire to bank one,it may have a red fire to plugs on bank one side, but you need blue fire to plugs on bank one side.[the best spark to plugs will always be blue] you may only need to replace part of the engine coil pack, they will have numbers on them[coil pack] and which cylinders that they supply spark to. if i'm not mistaken, you will be looking from front of car, look on passenger side of motor for a bad spark plug, or may even be a worn spark plug wire, inspect your spark plug wires for a worn place where the wire is exposed to ground the spark from the spark plug. pull the spark plug out and check it for carbon build up also. for carbon build up, it will be covered with hard black substance. recommend if you do replace plugs, nepindenso, no ac plugs[cheap] no ac delso, cheap. the better the plug, the better the car runs with great mileage. hope this helps, merry christmas, and as always,if you need further assistance, please repost your question and an expert will be happy to assist!

I think the spark plug wires are crossed on a 1989 pontiac grand prix 2.8

The firing order is 1-2-3-4-5-6.
Looking at the engine facing the crankshaft pully the cylinders are 1-3-5 on the left bank (closest to firewall) and 2-4-6 on the right bank (closest to radiator) going from front to back. (passenger side to driver side)
From the front of the car looking at the coil packs you wires should go on 1-4-6-3-2-5 going from left to right. (passengerside to driver side)

Can't find the bank 1 sensor 1 Oxygen Sensor

bank 1 refers to your driver's side and bank 2 refers to your passanger side. sensor 1 is pre cat and sensor 2 is post cat. Your vehicle has a v-6 so bank 1 sensor 1 is on the drivers side before the catalytic converter. It will be on your exhaust pipe between your exhaust manifold and your catalytic converter.

Spark plug

start with the side of the engine that has the cylinder closest to the radiator.
that first cylinder on that side is number one.from there back it is 3 5 7 .
so thats 1357.it would be the third one back.
on one bank is 1 3 5 7 and on the other bank is 2 4 6 8 just start with the cylinder closest to the front of the truck.
