some scanners have a 'locked' mode which is used to lock the eye in position and prevent it from moving when being transported. perhaps look for this 'lock' switch on the scanner on in the user manual

the bottom side there is lock for transporting the scanner. Turn the scanner upside down and check. Put it into the unlock position. As I said it is just a guess. If this doesn't work, let me know
