Garmin 2620 has no power

My Garmin 2620 worked fine last Wednesday when I last used it. Today I plugged it into my automobile cigarette socket but there is no power to the unit. It works on 110 power in the house and other things work in the cigarette socket so I suspect its the F 1.0aH 250V plugin cord. If thats the case-how do I get a new one?

My Garmin 2620 has the same problem. Doesn't work in the car but does fine on 110 in the house. I replaced the fuse in the car and in the power cord but no help. I then ordered a replacement power cord but still doesn't work.

The power from the car and the adapter are the same. So if it isn't working in the car either the car adapter is bad the connection in the power plug is loose (intermittent power) or there is a fuse issue with the power in the car. Try a different device in the car's power port. Alternatively use a multimeter to see if there is power present at the contacts while plugged into the car's power port. If replacement of the car adapter doesn't fix it, it is likely the car that is having the issue.

Probably the fuse inside the tip

'93 Jeep won't start - used cigarette lighter for gps instead of power socket

Sounds like a bit of a stretch... (nah).

"Lighter" is a GREAT OUTLET...
Has been for decades.

Perhaps it is just time to consider some BATTERY MAINTENANCE... cable and terminal cleaning
or even A REPLACEMENT battery.

I ASSURE you a cigar/cigarette lighter ELEMENT
pulls a lot more power than your Garmin Nuvi 1450LMT.

Get your JEEP battery checked...!!

I just bought a garmin nuvi 1300 and cannot get it charged. nothing fits into the gps. please help

your device should have come with 2 cables
- a USB cable which connects from your computer to the back of your Nuvi 1300 GPS
- an automobile power cable which connects from the 12v cigarette socket to the back of your device
both should be able to charge your device.

I just took my Garmin 1200 out of the box and plugged it into the cigarette lighter in my car and it did not work...I have a blank screen...my car is 12 years old!

No power at all?
Check your lighter socket to see if it's getting power (plug lighter in and see if it gets hot). Check the power plug on the provided cable. It contacts a fuse that may either be missing or blown. And last, check the connection of the cable as it plugs in the rear of the Nuvi.

When using wire in car, Garmin won't turn on, it starts, shows a low battery sign and shuts down. Was working fine on recent trip. It seems no power is reaching GPS. Nuvi 765T

Most likely the fuse in the charger plug has blown. The plug that goes into the cigarette lighter socket has a ring near the end. On most chargers it's silver but some of them are black. If you unscrew this ring the plug comes apart. Be careful not to lose any parts. You'll see the fuse in there. Replace it and it should be ok.
The other possibility is that the cigarette lighter socket is not working. You can check that easily enough by trying something else in it.

Is there any updated map for streetpilot 2620 since 2008?

Yes. There is one more mapset and then there will be no more for us using the StreetPilot 2620. You are looking for the disc set North American Navigator 2009. Make sure you do not purchase the NT version. I found the item on EBAY for $81and purchased it and it worked just fine. The 2009 is the last compatible map set that Garmin released for the 2620. Be certain that what you purchase includes that unlock key otherwise you will spend another $75 on that at the Garmin Unlock Site.

Here is the link that is good for a few more days, however, may relist it. The seller is yumelectronics and the search term is 2009 City Navigator.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390193775928

Here is the search for EBAY:
http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=city+navigator+2009

Here is the item on Garmin's site:
https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=8465

Listed as:
City Navigator® North America This product has been discontinued but is still available for purchase.

It is $99.99.

Good luck, and let me know if you have any other questions.

My cigarette lighter doesn't work, do I need it to

You can use it on its internal battery but they only last an hour or two. If you can't fix the lighter socket you could add one fairly easily then the Nuvi will last for the whole trip running on car power

Garmin StreetPilot 2620 totally dead

For the problem you are experiencing it is unlikely the time and effort needed to be spent trying to repair the product will be worth it compared to purchasing a used replacement 2610 for around $60. However, if your touch screen and accessories work you may wish to sell them on a third party web site for spare parts for others. You could fetch as much as $30 depending on what you have. If you have a remote and bean bag mount those alone can catch up to $30 + shipping.

The cradle no longer charges the garmin in my vehicle. It's not charging anymore. Nuvi 750

Sometimes, if the Garmin GPS battery is allowed to fully discharge, it would require charging directly via USB cable connected to a PC or Mac before it would accept a charge for the cigarette lighter again. Try connecting this way for 4 - 8 hours or more before going forward.

Check the cigarette lighter plug in another "known good" lighter socket / vehicle to help rule out a defective socket. A socket without power indicates anything from needing to change a "simple to replace" fuse - or a bigger problem - damaged wiring in the vehicle (if the socket is used to light cigars & cigarettes - vacuum the socket out to remove ash and tobacco that may collect inside). Trying the GPS elsewhere helps eliminate possible problems with the socket. If it doesn't work elsewhere, depending on the plug that goes into the socket, it too may have a built-in fuse. Check the plug for an exposed fuse - or see if the tip unscrews to provide access to a fuse inside. If unsure, the tech Support people at Garmin are a great source for free help.

Lastly, dirt or grime on the "cradle to GPS" connection or "cable to cradle" connection could be causing the failed connection. In short - carefully inspect all points of connection and remove any deposits found.
