Sounds like a bit of a stretch... (nah).

"Lighter" is a GREAT OUTLET...
Has been for decades.

Perhaps it is just time to consider some BATTERY MAINTENANCE... cable and terminal cleaning
or even A REPLACEMENT battery.

I ASSURE you a cigar/cigarette lighter ELEMENT
pulls a lot more power than your Garmin Nuvi 1450LMT.

Get your JEEP battery checked...!!

connect your gps to computer and look at the files in the poi folder. they should be gpx files. When poi loader does its thing it converts the csv files to gpx maybe something didn't work the last time you loaded files.

How did you charge it? If you did not use a high power USB charger, try that overnight. A USB charger provides a lot more powr than your PC. Leave it plugged in and off overnight.

If that does not work, Amazon sells battery replacement kits.

Unfortunately, this is the result of a defective LCD display. A transistor in the LCD matix is either stuck on or off, causing the line. The display must be replaced. More info on this can be found here:

What do you mean by "press dot"? Please give more details.

Sorry to say but this is a result of a failed firmware or map upgrade. Sometimes a break in the data communication between your GPS and PC can cause a failed upgrade. When you turn on the unit and it just displays the Garmin logo, sometimes in an endless loop, this is a boot problem. The unit can not find the proper files or they are corrupted. Is the map turned on? At the main menu, press the system tools icon and press the map icon. Then press the map info button.

What does it say? Does a map show up and is there a checkmark in the box next to the map description? Also, if the map is for a certain area, say lower 49 states, SW, well you won't be able to find a city in the NE because the map is only showing a limited area. If you have ample memory on the unit or have a 2GB or larger SD card, installing the full US & Canada map is the way to go. Make sure the map installed on the unit covers where you are and where you may be going.

Try calibrating it first. If that doesn't work, then it needs to be replaced. If it is cracked in any way, it needs to be replaced.

The calibration procedure can be found here:

Has your PC ever been able to recognize the Nuvi? A common problem on the Nuvi 11xx, 12xx, 13xx & 14xx are broken connections between the rear USB port and the printed circuit board. This will prevent communication between a PC and the Nuvi. It can also affect charging.

Have you tried the unit on a different PC or operating system?
