I have a UPS Smart 5000va model :surtd5000xli I replaced all new battery for ups but when i started ups all leds in the battery column litting .I want to connect ups and pc to reset new battery (this ups have not serial port ,it have rj45 port ).Please tell me how i connect between pc and ups.Which program i will to run for reset battery (i used com port rs 232 to reset battery for ups smart 3000va and terminal program in pc to reset ups smart 3000vas ok )

apc offer schematics or BOM's
there secret service manuals covers card (PCB) changes and jack names .



if not too old their official service centers can fix it;.
even out of warranty if it has recalls as many do. (smoker it.)

step one is read your error logs files, using powerchute app free from them.
top fail are batteries bar none we bench test them load tested ask or google it.

Is red light on for overload or for battery?
If on overload, try reducing the load on the UPS. If red light on overload persists buy a new UPS (overload fault hard to repair).

Red light on battery - replace the batteries.

Red light on boost or buck, may mean that the nominal voltage of ups and the limits need to be changed/corrected.

Must have good batteries to power up.

my UPS has 2 ways to see logs.
one is with the APP called, (free) Powerchute at Apc.com
or i use my serial console port
i login there using PUTTY at 9600,N,8,1,No flow ctrl

and type status. or type help first
this is DOS like CLI , effect with PUTTY
I type eventlog (at CLI)_
and see all logs, Esc = end, space = next page.
there is 3rd way using APC cloud but I do not have that.(overkill for home)
I have 2 connections to my UPS ,ethernet and serial console cables.
2 ways in, and is covered in the manual.

what the problem?

it is cause by UPS internal fault, possibilities like faulty charging circuit, inverter, etc.. you can call APC and check if its still have warranty, APC will replace it right away :D

have you check the battery, SURT UPS will not on if the battery is totally drain.

Automatic: The UPS performs a self-test automatically when turned on, and every

two weeks thereafter (by default). During the self-test, the UPS briefly operates the

connected equipment on battery.
Manual: Press and hold the button for a few seconds to initiate the self-test

REPLACE BATTERY LED ILLUMINATES

Replace Battery LED flashes and

short beep is emitted every two

seconds to indicate the battery is

disconnected.

Check that the battery connectors are fully engaged.

Weak battery. Allow the battery to recharge for 24 hours. Then, perform a self-test. If the

problem persists after recharging, replace the battery.

Failure of a battery self-test. The UPS emits short beeps for one minute and the Replace Battery LED

illuminates. The UPS repeats the alarm every five hours. Perform the self-test

procedure after the battery has charged for 24 hours to confirm the Replace

Battery condition. The alarm stops and the LED clears if the battery passes the
self-test.
