My Samsung SyncMaster B1930 monitor went off while I was working. tried to turn it on but it wont. after a few minutes it went on by itself

First, it is good to see others have had this issue. I have had my monitor going on two years or so. In the last two months, turning it on it takes longer and longer for it to 'warm up' before it stays on. I also have the blinking on and off with the desktop and functions working fine underneath. Today it took about two hours. It went on fast when I used a hair dryer to warm it up through the air flow holes on back/top of the monitor. Within 30 seconds, it flipped on. So, I'm hearing that a it's a power supply issue/inverter. Interesting. I am going to do a bit more research before I take it apart. It would be good to know if others have a problem? and, other solutions?

It sounds like you have a monitor with a common problem. After a few years some LCD monitorswill blow a power supply. The problem is caused by parts calledcapacitors overheating in the confined space of the monitor. If you aregood at electronics repair/soldering you can usually fix the problem. Check out a few pictures on my web site www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm You can take the back cover off your monitor and look for the bad parts,replace any that look like the pictures and your monitor should workfine.We just posted a repair guide showing how to remove the case ansreplace the parts. The capacitors do need to be installed with thecorrect + and -connections, note the stripe on the old one and insert the new one thesame way.
