The company that made the universal remote should have codes for your Emerson. I would contact them to get codes for that remote.
However, if you can't get that working you will find a remote that will run your Emerson on www.remotes.com. Emerson isn't making the original remote anymore, but they have a replacement for it that doesn't need any programming to run your Emerson. Compact disc (CD) is audio only. Digital Video Disc (DVD) are both audio and video. Be sure to use DVDs for watching videos

No you can't output the video signal from the LC195EMX's tuner to another device. It only has video inputs to obtain the signal from a DVD or Blu-ray player, for example. There are audio outputs to use with a sound system or headphones. Thus you could record the audio track, if you desired.

The manual for the LC195EMX is available from Emerson: http://www.emersonaudiovideo.com/support/download_tv.php?id=6 . You will need some sort of a set top box to record to a DVD/VCR recorder with either an analog tuner or no tuner. (OTA digital to analog converters connect easily to DVD recorders. For best signal, use a switch to feed the signal to the recorder, instead the TV. Splitters can be used to feed both at the same time. However, the signal loss could make either or both devices unwatchable with the digital OTA signal. Amplified splitters can reduce this issue; however, I've had the amplifier fail on several occasions. Then the amplifier blocks all of the signal or blocks select channel frequencies.)

if you are using analog aerial antenna please locate the strongest signal..

Unfortunately, what you're describing is a repair issue. You won't be able to address the problem with troubleshooting. There is a part inside the TV that needs to be replaced. If you're under warranty, this will cost you nothing. If you're not under warranty the cost will likely be a minimum of $200 parts and labor. However, be warned that the cost could be considerably higher.

This unit has a problem when playing dual-layer discs of some kinds - read the warnings on the Magnavox website - playing the wrong kind of disc will cause an error that will require svc/repalcement to fix
