The pressure switch tube will require a blow through, thats if the pumps ok and clean.or a freak happening would be a blocked waste pipe( i have seen this before after much head scratching!)

Does everyone understand there is switch or button that controls the rotating brush? Brushes stop spinning automatically when vacuum cleaner is in the UPRIGHT POSITION. Because now you should be using the hose and attachments
Check the condition of brushes. Replace if necessary. Check motor rotation. Not rotating, check if it has a soft starter for motor. If there is soft starter, bypass it. Check the motor rotation. If it does not rotate, then it is quite likely that the motor is burnt.
Machine not spinning....check]
1..all water gone clean pump trap and check blocked drain
2....somehting stopping drum spin drum freely by hand.
3....too much soap use low suds soap and very little of it.
4....motor brushes wearing out...call for service for this one.
Good luck

Hi there, this problem sounds as though the carbon brushes are needing replaced or infact just needing to be cleaned of dust or dirt. Its very common for the brushes to be covered in dust and fibres. Im not sure where the brushes will be on this model but I hope this helps you in someway.
Sometimes the Brushes on the motor can cause intermitten rotation. The brushes are the electrical contacts for the motor to rotate. When they wear down or degrade (and need replacing) under spin conditions the motor may fail to turn as it may have hit a dead spot on the motors commutator.
Best course of action is to see if the Brushes need replacing. The cost of new Brushes is < £20. The labour may be vastly more if you pay someone - but it should be done in less the 0.5 hour.
Brushes usually come in pairs (Pack of two).
If your unit is hotpoint I can offer some instruction on how to fit yourself.
Most washers do not fill they spray the dishes. When enough water has accumulated in the bottom a float switch shuts off the water and turns on the pump to remove the water. If the pump motor does not remove the water the cycle will not continue but the timer will. There may be something clogging the pump and resulting in an overload condition for the motor. This would account for the smell. A pump may turn freely when you spin it by hand because you cannot spin it fast enough by hand to determine if the pump is obstructed. Does the cycle drain the water? If the cycle stops and there is water in the bottom not being pumped out then you should look at the pump and the motor to determine problem.
