Firmware update NEEDED.

When the camera acts strange it won't be the firmware. There must be another cause. Looking for other software for that camera is useless, because nobody will spent time to reprogram a point and shoot camera. When the camera is not working good, check if it is still under waranty and contact a Nikon certified repair centre close to you.

Device drivers and firmware upgradeable. Firmware accidentally interrupted. Now USB device is listed as unknown. How to reset the device? (motic2500)

Once a firmware download is interrupted, the camera usually becomes a useless "brick". You'll have to contact the support section of the manufacturer's website for instructions.

How do i hook cables to download new firmware into my dgl-4500 from computer to router

  1. I assume you downloaded the newest firmware (version 1.21NA) from this site.
  2. Save or move it on your desktop so it's easier to find.
  3. Connect your router to your computer with an Ethernet cable.(If you're not sure what it looks like, see here.)
Do not upgrade the firmware over a wireless connection!

On the same page, look at the FAQ's. there is an entry called "How do I upgrade the firmware on my DGL-4100/DGL-4300/DGL-4500?" It is a description of the upgrade process itself and will walk you through the steps.

I'm just amazed that they miss a really important warning. Do not unplug your router or close the browser on your computer until this process is finished. This can render your router useless and you will have a nice, expensive doorstop.
When the upgrade process starts, go have a coffee, do your dishes, whatever, but: Leave the router and your computer alone! Wait until the router's reboot is completely finished.

If you have any more questions, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.

Well i had err 02 on my camera, when i went to get it fixed at a canon showroom. they fixed the pins of the cf card reader in the camera. but now the language settings are all gone. whenever i try to...

If you are pretty sure that after being repaired, the camera started such problem, then report it to the repair center, and get it fixed. Such repair center has to have a kind of warranty in labor and repair services. If there is nothing you can achieve from this, then you can try in install the firmware on it, and see if this helps.

Prior to it, try in reseting the settings to the factiory configuration. If it does not work, then follow the below recommendation.

This firmware upgrade operation is eay to accomplish, buit I have to warn you that if there is a hard problem with your camera, such process may be aborted in the midle of it, and your camera will be useless completely. Think carefully about it.

If you still want to try it, you can get into Canon web site and follow the instructions of the following link http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=314&modelid=11154

There is always the option of send it to a qualified repair center to fix it (different one from the one you used).

Good luck and best regards,

Nikon coolpix l3 lens stuck/error msg

Go to http://www.Nikon.com and read the information concerning you kind of camera. All info is there including if you can have new firmware or not. If new firmware is listed, you can download it and install it according to the instructions given.

Note: If your camera is working fine, be very careful about firmware. Your camera can become completely useless if the firmware is not installed right.

Some problems can be corrected if you load the new firmware. If there is a problem with the original firmware, Nikon will have that listed as well.
take care,

Olympus sp 350

Are you sure you finalized the firmware upgrade procedure according to the instructions? This sounds a little like you pulled the plug a little too soon... Have you done it according to these instructions: http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/OMfirm.asp And kept the camera connected until the update was 100 % complete? If you did everything right, try reseting the camera - take the batteries out for the day, and see if it helps. if you're back to step one(the reason you did the upgrade), try the firmware upgrade again. If still it doesn't work contact olympus, and I hope you have a valid warranty. Good luck

I do not feel comfortable performing the installation the Optional Enhancement Upgrade for DiMAGE 7, can I have the camera upgraded professionally?

If customers do not feel comfortable upgrading the DiMAGE 7 firmware themselves, they can send the camera in to the NJ repair facility with a note stating "Please Upgrade Firmware". Their camera will be upgraded, and they will be charged $49.95 (plus tax and shipping). They will receive back their upgraded camera, and a DiMAGE Viewer Ver 1.2 Upgrade CD-Rom*. (They will not receive the firmware upgrade on CD-Rom or the new DiMAGE Viewer) There is a 2-3 week turn around time once payment has been authorized. * images captured with an upgraded camera cannot be opened using previous versions of the DiMAGE Image Viewer Utility 1.11 or earlier. A DiMAGE Viewer Ver 1.2 upgrade CD-rom has been bundled with the DiMAGE 7 Optional Enhancement UPGRADE Firmware. The previous version of DiMAGE Image Viewer Utility must be installed before the DiMAGE Viewer (Ver 1.2) update can be loaded. If customers do not feel comfortable upgrading the DiMAGE 7 firmware themselves, but they want the DiMAGE 7 Optional Enhancement UPGRADE and the New DiMAGE Viewer 2.0, they should purchase the kit through our on-line store, then send the camera in to the NJ repair facility with the Firmware UPGRADE CD-Rom that they purchased. As long as the firmware CD-Rom is sent with the camera, and the camera does not show damage that may void the warranty or cause the firmware to not install properly, there will be no charge for the camera to be upgraded. There is a 2-3 week turn around time once the camera has be received. If customers attempt to install the firmware upgrade on their camera and experience a problem, or the upgrade does not complete, they should send the camera in to our NJ repair facility with the Firmware UPGRADE CD-Rom and a description of the problem. As long as the firmware CD-Rom is sent with the camera, and the camera does not show damage that may void the warranty or cause the firmware to not install properly, there will be no charge for the camera to be upgraded. There is a 2-3 week turn around time once the camera has be received.
