I live in the United Kingdom and we are in the process, area by area, of converting our TVs from analogue to digital. My area was converted to digital in May. Since when my VCR will not function - it will not video one channel whilst watching another. Is there any way my player can be converted to digital please and would this be achieved. My VCR is a Symphonic DVD/CD Player and Video Cassette Recorder UDV680.

If the video does not have a freeview tuner it will not be able to record. There is a solution! All you need to do is get a freeview box, Argos have an Alba model for around £18 at the moment, Connect it via a scart to your video, if it has to scart connectors use the second one, often marked AV2. Then when you want to record, turn the box on to the channel you want to record, set the record timer, but change the channel to AV2 for the recording. That should then record the station, while you watch the other channels. If the VCR has only one scart, you can get a scart switching box, as shown below, from places such as Amazon.

I have a Toshiba older TV that doesn't have HD digital converter box I bought a leaf ultimate antenna do I still need to use the converter box with this new antenna

if the tv does not have a built in hd digital tuner you need a Hd digital converter to analogue converter. What you need to be careful about is the available inputs on the TV if it only has AV in then you need a converter that transmits out RCA video or an analogue tv channel on RF the tv can tune into. Some of the new converters have HDMI out so if TV does not have HDMI input it won't connect. The antenna would go into the converter. Not sure how much signal you need you may need an rf amplifier if the signal is poor in your area.

Want to convert analogue tv to digital

You need a digital converter to receive digital signals on an analogue TV (old type). If you are using an outside antenna you can purchase the box from places like Walmart, Kmart, Radio Shack for around $40. If you have cable TV or Sat (Dish or Direct TV) you need one of their boxes to convert the signal back to analogue. The Walmart type boxes WILL NOT WORK for cable or Sat TV.

Have had digital installed and cannot get tv to work through digital. Any advice?

Hello
Thei Orion model Tv is not equipped with a digital tuner inside. There is only an analogue tuner fitted and only analogue channels can be received by this set. To get digital channels, you have to buy one settop box, which can convert digital signals to analogue signals. In short, a Digital to Analogue Converter should be bought, if you want to get digital channels. OK.

How to copy 8mm tape using DCR-TRV350 to pc.

You will need an analogue to digital converter box. You connect the camera to the converter box with analogue cables and connect the A/D box to the PC with a firewire cable.
Note: Many mini DV cameras with analogue inputs can act as an A/D Converter box.

How can i tune my tv in to recieve freeview channels?? tried everything with no luck. cant even get analogue channels? i know this isnt a problem with the aerial as other tvs work!!

In the US, you are not able to obtain free HD channels without a tuner and an antenna. Some HDTV's have built in tuners and depending on your location to the broadcasts, you may be able to obtain reception. It is possible that one of your TVs has a built in tuner if it is newer and this other TV does not. Analougue channels no longer exist as all channels have been converted to digital broadcast and would need to be converted if trying to view through an analogue TV. Thanks.

Convert analouge video into digital format

The analogue video format can be converted only with a conversion software/ harware installed into your PC. This might be expensive and is used by studios for conversion. The analogue video is processed and compressed before it is converted and written to a disc. On the other hand you can use the new camcorders to input the analogue to be written into the drive/hard disc/ which can be transferred to a PC in digital format. Hope you try this out. Good day

Convert normal tv to hd tv

HELLO
If the set you are trying to convert to HD is just your everyday standard VHF/UHF analogue TV - basically forget it! I am given to understand you cannot make your standard telly show HD pictures.
Sorry! That is, of course, anyone else knows different.

Insignia digital tv converter/indoor antenna no signal

Ok first I can save you some money. Take your "HDTV" antenna back. There is nothing different about the antennas needed receive analog and digital signals. If you got reception without your converter box, use the same antenna with your converter box.

Next let's see if there is a problem with the box. Hook up a television with the antenna. How many stations do you get? Now hook up the same television & antenna, but this time put the converter box between the antenna & the TV. Do not turn on the box. Now how many stations do you get? If the number is different, the box is not allowing the antenna signal to pass through. That is bad. You want your signal to pass through the box so you can still pick up stations that don't broadcast digitally. Some areas of the country will not be covered by digital stations from all major broadcasters when the changeover happens in Feb.

My suspicion is either you did not have the antenna hooked up to the converter box when you searched for channels OR you are in an area that is not yet broadcasting digitally.

I hope this helps you solve your problem. Thank you for using FixYa and feel free to add more questions here by using comments.

Hooking actual live coaxial from Cable Co. to Insignia Converter Box ...

Based on the specs that I have read I am going to say you cannot hook up cable to the converter. Best thing to do would be to call cable company that provides service there and see if it was turned off on the billing side they probably just didn't come out and disconnect from the pole. That might give you service but missing some features such as tv guide channel. Now some tv's have tv guide built into them and maybe in the move that feature on the tv was turned off it they were using it that way before. Here is what the specs say about that converter:

Use this digital-to-analog converter to convert digital TV broadcast signals to analog signals on analog TVs with antenna-based reception.

Convert a Hi8 to cd

Hi 8 tapes are analogue and need to be converted to digital before a DVD can be made of them. You can pass the signal through a digital video camera to the computer to convert them. Only very short videos could be copied onto a CD as most video files are much larger than a CD's capacity.
I'm not sure about digital 8 but maybe the camera only has an analogue output? If the lead goes to RCA plugs - that is analogue. A firewire socket means a digital output.
