Hi, You have the model PS3 with the dual laser, Ones for Blue Ray and ones for standard definition. They are part of the same assembly and cant be changed individually, You will need to replace the whole laser deck if you are good with openeing thins up but if not then search ebay for a complete blue ray drive and its a simple plug out plug in swap over. There are loads of guides on youtube for laser replacement. Be sure to use the Serial coee on the console label to get the correct compatible laser. If you are in Ireland or UK we can do the repair for you. Just reply to this comment if interested.
when putting disk in check by listening if you can hear the disk spinning at high speeds or a clickin noise, this means the laser is having trouble reading disk, try cleaning with a cd laser cleaner you can get these from comet argos pc world etc,if this does not work the laser may have burned out,one of the main faults with playstation and xbox is the fans that cool down the system also draw in dust through the vents wich inturn soil the laser lens hope this helps andy
JoTex.. The PS2 wont play blueray disks ..most of the older ps2 games have a purple or almost black color..Try checking the games to see if they are damaged, such as finger prints large scratches ect, try a dvd lens cleaner they are pretty cheep.(the disc type). the lens my be dirty,, or you can use a can of compressed air like the type for your keyboard. just spray inside with the disk tray open..hope this helps
