Pull the dishwasher out of the slot. There is a motor underneath that runs the pump to drain it. The usual cause is the it has a bad connection.

My dishwasher didn't drain the water out on the end of the clicle? What could be the problem?

Hello, Thank You for using FixYa. I will be helping you today.I would start where your drain line connects to the house drain,This is where most blocked drains happen. Disconnect the drain line and put it in a bucket and try to drain the dishwasher. Chances are its blocked somewhere you just have to find it.

My dishwasher is leaving water in the bottom after finished. The dishes are not cleaning. Are the two related?

Yes more than likely you have a restriction in your pump/drain. you will need to remove the drain cover in the bottom of the dishwasher and clean it out
  • Empty the dishwasher and remove the dish racks so that you can easily locate the drain inside your dishwasher. The drain is under a drain grate, usually at the back of the dishwasher.

  • Remove the drain grate by either popping the grate out, or by unscrewing the screws holding it in place. Different types of dishwashers will have different options.

  • Use the soapy water and the toothbrush or scrub brush to clean inside the drain area and the grate.

  • Rinse the drain area with clean water. Then replace the drain grate.

  • Pour ½ cup of salt, 1 cup of baking soda and 2 cups of vinegar into the drain (in that order). The mixture will bubble. This will clean the drain and the drain hose.

  • Wait until the vinegar/baking soda mixture has stopped bubbling. Then pour 1 cup of bleach into your detergent dispenser. Replace the dish racks and run the empty dishwasher on a regular cycle. This will clean the entire machine

  • If this does not solve the issue your drain hose may be plugged or crimped and lastly your pump may be failing.

Does the dishwasher model GDB742RJS0 have a heating element or does it require a cold and hot water hook up thanks

Yes, your dishwasher has a heating element. You only need a hot water hook up. attached is a picture of some of the parts in your dishwasher. The heating element is #1. It is located at the bottom.

    Hope this clear things up.

I have a bosh dishwasher that has not drained of water and the tap light is red on the indicator board

    Hello there:
Drain line/air gap A clog in the drain line or air gap (if there is one) is the usual reason that a dishwasher won't drain. Often the problem is at the point where the drain line attaches to the garbage disposer or household drain line. If you remove this line, you can clear any debris from the hose or hose connection. Be sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher again. Pump Your dishwasher pump ejects the water. The pump is usually mounted directly to the motor, then attached to the bottom of the dishwasher. You can reach the pump from inside the dishwasher, but first you need to remove the lower rack, the spray arm, and the spray arm support. Look for an impeller--a round plastic fan blade-type of device that spins around. This is the wash impeller, which forces the water through the spray arm. Beneath the wash impeller is the drain impeller, which is similar in size and shape to the wash impeller. The drain impeller pushes the water toward the drain port. These components make up the pump. If any of the pump components are defective, you need to replace them. Drain valve and/or solenoid Many dishwashers use a drain valve with an electric solenoid. When electricity flows to the solenoid, the valve opens and diverts the water to the drain. Sometimes the solenoid, or the diverting lever, sticks and prevents the dishwasher from draining or filling properly. Try to free up the solenoid to lubricate the lever. Otherwise, you may have to replace the solenoid or pump assembly. With these systems, the motor always rotates in one direction. When it's energized, the drain valve diverts the water. Other dishwashers simply reverse the direction of the motor to drain the dishwasher. These units don't have a drain valve. Instead, there's a drain hose connected directly to the pump housing.
If the motor isn't turning or working, the unit won't drain. Some dishwashers are susceptible to getting stuck if you don't run them regularly. I you may need to manually spin the motor to free it up. If the motor is defective, you need to replace it. Timer Part of what the timer does is control the motor and drain valve. If the timer doesn't work properly, the water may not drain and you need to replace the timer. This problem is uncommon.

To find helpful exploded view diagrams and get part numbers, you can just enter your full model number at the Sears parts site.

A full Sears/Kenmore model number usually has 3 digits, a dot, then 8 more digits, such as ###.########
