I called a Denon service center, and the can repair it for $250.00 to $300.00 or less. The problem is Display not lit, and power indicator is flashing rapidly. I tried to initialization of the microprocessors, but that did not work. The model # is AVR-2105-885. Can I order the part, and replace it myself. In other word is it an easy task? Thanks Paul

Hi,
Blinking of power indicator means the amplifier is in protection mode.First of all remove all the speaker connections from the amplifier. After that power the amplifier and check the protect show or not . if not, then any of the speaker is damaged. If then also it shows protect you have to check the amplifiers hardware.

AV receivers shows protect mode , when there is a hardware fault in side it. Its a warning that some thing is wrong.
Normally AV receivers show this when any of the output amplifier have some problem. There are seven amplifiers in this AV receiver. May occur when the output diver transistors of any of the amplifier become shorted. if the output transistor get shorted this will lead to flow of current through the speakers. To prevent this there is a protection circuit for each channels. One combined output of this protection circuit is connected to the system control. when the any of the output amplifier fails, the protection circuit detects it and switch of the speaker and sent data to the system control. when the system control get this data it will give a warning to the customer through display that PROTECT.
You have to check the amplifier.
For that you need digital multimeter, soledring iron screwdrivers etc
Open the amplifier , then power it on. connect the negative terminal of the multimeter any where in the chase( metal body of the amplifer). then connect the positive terminal to all the output transistors emitter pin one by one . the voltage should be bellow 0.5V. If any of the emitter of the transistor shows voltage more than 0.5V., then that amplifier stage is faulty. Remove the transistors and check it. if it is shot then replace with a new one.
after replacing the transistors do not power up the amplifier directly from the main. You have to put a bulb of 60 watts in serial.
You can do this easily remove the mains fuse. put the bulb in a holder. now you have to wire from the holder. connect one of it to the one end of the fuse holder and the other wire to the other end of the fuse holder. Why using a bulb is, if there is any further problem in the amplifier stage on which the transistors replaced, there is a possibility of the new transistor get damage. if we use a bulb in serial with its mains supply ,when any overload in the amplifier occur the bulb will drop the current, by lighting itself.
After connecting the bulb in serious power on the amplifier. watch the bulb. It should light for one or two second and go dim . if so check the display, is there is protect mode is on or not . if not and come back to normal operation ,then remove the power , remove the bulb insert fuse and check
connect the power and check.
If the bulb shows bright light then there is some component also faulty in the same amplifier. after removing the power you have to check again the amplifier stage of which the transistor is replaced, for any other faulty components.
ok

I have a Denon AVR1603, recently I plugged computer in AUX connections at rear (not loud) and it kept tripping out. Eventually it tripped and now the the on/standby light fashes but nothing else happens....

The LED flash indicates that unit goes into protection. Check the power transistors, the 0.22 ohm or 0.47 resistors in the output of the transistors.

Have Denon AVR-2313ci receiver. FM tuner quit working; will tune in 50 MHz steps, on every step "stereo" and "tuned" are lit but no sound comes out whether actual station or not.

There is no module per se. Tuning is accomplished by applying a voltage to the tuner chip and their associated circuits. It needs to be repaired by a Denon service center.

I have an avr 4800, and eveytime I raise the volume to -21 or higher it goes into protection mode. can you help? my zipcode is 60184

I'd treat this symptom as "DISPLAY not lit and power indicator is flashing rapidly." under Troubleshooting on Page 60.

and I'd evaluate the speaker load you're presenting to make sure it's effectively higher than 6-0hms per speaker channel.

My phone screan is all white why?

Try to make an emergency call like dial 112 or 911; if you hear voice from operator then it is LCD problem or may be the display IC of your phone. Please visit your nearest mobile service center to repair or replace the hardware.

If you can’t hear anything then your phone needs to reprogram; new software has to be installed in the mobile. Please visit your nearest mobile service center and ask them to flash the mobile. Flashing is formatting and reinstalling the latest software that supports the mobile. Service providers will charge very less to flash the mobile and it will be done in less than 30 minutes.

Boston Acoustics VR960 Crackle

I just finished repairing one of my VR960 units with a similar problem. My problem was that the sub would crackle no matter what input level. After changing a few of the active components, I finally discovered it to be a capacitor which was faulty. Anyway, I replaced the three 100uf 25V capacitors on the main board and all was well.

Good Luck.

Display on Denon AV-887 receiver does not show anything anymore...

This is most often caused by a bad power transformer. The power tranformer has several different secondary outputs and one of them is the supply voltage for the display. There are several other things that can also cause this problem, but all of these would require some knowledge of electronic troubleshooting and the proper equipment to test it.

I work at an authorized Denon service center and have repaired many Denon receivers, so I do have hands-on experience with these.

If you have the proper test equipment, like a multi-meter at minimum, I could help you to figure out what is causing your problem. If not, you really should just take it in for service. The model number of your receiver would indicate that it may still be under the manufacturers warranty. It has a 2 year warranty, so you can probably get it repaired for free. If it has been more than 2 years since you made the purchase it would still be worth it to get it repaired. This is a very expensive receiver and even if it needed the power transformer, which is very expensive, it would still be cheaper to pay for a repair than to buy a new one of equal quality. Even the very best electronic equipment breaks down at some time, it is just unfortunate that yours took a turn for the worse this soon.

If I can be of more help feel free to post a reply and ask.
