The average person will try these methods:
Log on your computer by using built-in Administrator account in safe mode, its password default blank if you never change it. So that you can use it to change all other user password.
Press F8 when you start/restart your PC, select Safe Mode to boot system.Or press ctrl+alt+delete two times in the welcome screen.
Use a password reset disk if you have already created. So remember to create a password reset disk when you create/change a password.Insert your reset disk when the system prompt you to use it as soon as you input a wrong password and press OK.
However, how to create password reset disk? For instance creating a password reset disk in Windows 7.Same things can be done in Windows 8,WIndows vista/XP and so on.The operations are similar.
1. Click Start and then choose Control Panel.
2. Click on the User Accounts and Family Safety.
Note: You will not see this link while you're viewing the Control Panel under Large icons or Small icons mode. Then double-click on the User Accounts icon and proceed to Step 4.
3. Click on the User Accounts.
Note: Make sure that there is a portable media being connected on the computer to create the password reset disk before you proceed. This means that you will need a flash drive or a floppy disk drive and a blank floppy disk. You cannot create a Windows 7 password reset disk with a CD/DVD or external hard drive.
4. In the task pane on the left, click Create a password reset disk.
Note: If you get a No Drive warning message at this time, it shows that you have not got a floppy disk or USB flash drive connected onto your PC. You'll need to do this before continuing.
5. When the Forgotten Password Wizard appears, click Next.
6. Choose the portable media drive to create a Windows 7 password reset disk. And then click Next to continue.
7. With the disk or other media still in the drive, enter your current account password in the text box and click Next.
8. Windows 7 now starts to create the password reset disk. Click Next and then click Finish in the next window when the progress indicator shows 100% complete.
9. You can now remove the flash drive or floppy disk from your computer. Label the Windows 7 Password Reset disk and place it in a safe place.
NOTE: You have to renew your password reset disk when you have changed your password. If you forgot to do this, you can't reset your password by the previous reset disk when you lost windows password and it will be much more troublesome.
If the methods above are unavailable, you have to reinstall your system,or else If you really meet this situation, don't worry, you can download a free software--Ophcrack, or reset Windows password with the Command Prompt.

If you want to save time, you can use Windows Password Rescuer professional to deal with this problem. It is designed to recover Windows 8/7/2008/2003/2000/xp/vista password, and it can complete the task within several minutes.

Lost windows password? you can go into safe mode (F8 when booting up) to reset...

Last week when my friend bought a Windows XP installed netbook, he created a complex Windows login password to bolster the privacy of his netbook. Unfortunately, he couldn't remember the spelling of his own password the next day and was unable to use his netbook. I suggested Windows Password Key 8.0 to reset the password and start using his netbook again. Let’s find out more about Windows Password Key 8.0.
Windows Password Key 8.0 is a useful application, which can be used to reset the Windows login password on your netbook with the help of USB flash drive. Windows Password Key 8.0 is compatible with all versions of Windows.
However, your netbook must have minimum system requirements to enable Windows Password Key 8.0 to reset your Windows login password. First, your Windows must be installed in a FAT-16, FAT-32 or NTFS partition and you must also have bootable USB flash drive to reset the password.
You'll need to install Windows Password Key 8.0 on any other Windows PC, which is accesible to you. Once the installation is complete, Windows Password Key 8.0 will launch on the screen.
In the Windows Password Key 8.0 window, you'll need to select the existing Windows Password Key 8.0 image, which is ideally located as a default option under ‘Choose the existing windows password key 8.0’.

Select the option ‘USB Flash Drive’ and insert your USB flash drive in the USB port. After you insert the USB flash drive, select it from the drop down list and click the ‘Burn’ button.

When the ‘burning’ process starts, Windows Password Key 8.0 extracts the ISO image and copies the necessary Windows files to your USB flash drive.

Now you can insert your newly created USB flash drive into your netbook port, and then reboot your operating system. Be sure to change your netbook set up to make it boot from your USB flash drive.
When your operating system boots from your USB flash drive, the Windows Password Key 8.0 will initialize on your netbook screen. You need to select ‘Windows installation to be processed’ and then select the user, whose password you need to reset by typing the number associated with it, followed by the ‘ENTER’ key.

In the next screen, type ‘Y’ followed by ‘ENTER’ to reset a new password.
After you reset a new password, remove the Windows Password Key 8.0 bootable USB flash drive and restart your netbook to log in using your new password.
It is always a good practice to set up a simple password for our windows login. Although we have utility applications like Windows Password Key 8.0 for our rescue, it becomes a tedious task to reset password, especially when you are travelling with important documents on your netbook.
