Microsoft Computers & Internet - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support

AOL is a massive American internet service and multimedia company.

One of the main services that AOL provides for its users is access to a user-friendly email server. This server can be used to send and receive emails to other accounts around the world.

However, just like your keys, your wallet and the remote, passwords to email addresses can easily be lost.

When this happens, you can go onto the Internet service and retrieve your lost AOL password without having the change it.

Go to aol.com.

Find the login box on the main page.

Click on the "forgot password" link, which is underneath the login box.

Type in the user information that you do know. This will be your current email address as well as your name as it appears on the AOL billing information.

Type in the last four digits of your billing credit card for further verification.

Click on the "next" button at the bottom of the screen.

Enter an alternative email address where you can retrieve your password.

Press "submit." Retrieve your AOL password from the alternate email address you entered.

To correct and solve this error, follow this steps:

1. Run Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del or right click on Taskbar)
2. Stop wscript.exe process if available by highlighting the process name and clicking End Process.
3. Then terminate explorer.exe process.
4. In Task Manager, click on File -> New Task (Run…).
5. Type “cmd” (without quotes) into the Open text box and click OK.
6. Type the following command one by one followed by hitting Enter key:

del c:\autorun.* /f /s /q /a
del d:\autorun.* /f /s /q /a
del e:\autorun.* /f /s /q /a

c, d, e each represents drive letters on Windows system. If there are more drives or partitions available, continue to command by altering to other drive letter. Note that you must also clean the autorun files from USB flash drive or portable hard disk as the external drive may also be infected.
7. In Task Manager, click on File -> New Task (Run…).
8. Type “regedit” (without quotes) into the Open text box and click OK.
9. Navigate to the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
10. Check if the value name and value data for the key is correct (the value data of userint.exe include the path which may be different than C drive, which is also valid, note also the comma which is also needed):

“Userinit”=”C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe,”

If the value is incorrent, modify it to the valid value data.

Hi! Thanks for using FixYa to solve your problem. Basically, Outlook needs to know what your outgoing and incoming servers are, and how they are configured, in order to send and receive your e-mail correctly.

The incoming server is the e-mail that you receive from other people. The outgoing server is the e-mail that you send to other people. I would advise the best thing that you could do is to call your Internet Service Provider, or ISP (like Charter or Verizon), and ask them the following questions:

1) What is the address of the incoming e-mail server? (like pop3.charter.net) -
usually this is a POP3 server.

2) What is the address of the outgoing e-mail server? (like smtp.charter.net) -
usually this is an SMTP server.

3) What is the port for the incoming server?

4) What is the port for the outgoing server?

5) Is this an encrypted connection?

6) Does either server require authentication (usually the incoming server)

In addition, please be sure that you use the correct username and password for your e-mail that your ISP provided you. This is likely going to be different than the username and password that you use to login to your ISP's website (it is for Charter).

POP3 and SMTP are "protocols," or languages, so to speak, that your ISP's network uses to "talk to" other servers to send and receive your e-mail. As long as these settings are configured correctly, Outlook should have no problem sending and receiving your e-mail.

These same methods work for other e-mail clients like Mozilla Thunderbird and Incredimail.

When you create a new account in Outlook by the way, Outlook will try and use an encrypted connection. If your ISP does not use encryption, you will wait a good long time and then Outlook will tell you it can't find or configure your e-mail s ervers. If that happens, just tell Outlook to use a non-encrypted connection, and then it should find all your e-mail server's settings from your ISP just fine without further intervention.

I do hope this helps! Take care!

Tip

The difference between Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express

1 :Outlook Express was developed as part of Internet
Explorer with the home user in mind while Outlook
was developed as part of Microsoft Office with the
corporate user in mind.
2. Outlook Express is a basic Internet mail program
that is part of Internet Explorer and Windows.
Outlook is a full-featured personal information
manager that is available as a part of Microsoft
Office and also as a stand-alone program.
3. Outlook has a host of features that Outlook
Express does not have, such as a calendar,
a task list, a journal, and automatic backup into
archive files.
4. Outlook can be programmed using Visual Basic
for Applications (VBA) but Outlook Express cannot.
5. Outlook also has a very powerful Junk Mail feature
6. Outlook has message rules for both incoming
and outgoing mail, while Outlook Express can
only filter incoming.
7. Outlook Express was designed for use on a single
computer and so its message store and settings
cannot be stored on a server. Outlook however
was tailor-made for networks, and so its message
store can be on a central server that many
machines can access.

Most of our office computers are on MacOS platform. We were receiving 300+ mails every day that leads us to an issue now- bloated mailbox. We will purchase extra space from the mail provider. Then came the concern of storing them all to a safer location. There are plenty of options in Windows, but we could manage to find one in Mac.

Mail Backup X by Inventpure comes as a rescue. It picked all the mails rightly. We now have stored our mails locally, as well as in an online location. Learn more about how to backup emails on mac?

Hi, christosperis

I already faced this issue and I got panicked at that time. I tried the inbox repair tool that comes with MS outlook but got no luck. So, I came to know about third party PST Repair Tool that can repair any corruption error in PST file. It's good that you backup your PST file before formatting. You can also try the inbox repair tool as some people say this tool works on minor corruption.
If your files still not recovered then I would suggest you use DataRecovo PST Recovery Tool that works super fast on corrupted PST file and somehow you can't able to recover your file then you can also take help from their support. This software also ensures a full refund policy if this tool doesn't help you. So, it's a safe and one-time investment as it comes with a lifetime warranty.

It also comes with a completely free (demo version) that you can try to check as even this free version can able to recover your 25 emails per folder.

I am going to take a wild guess here, but you are trying to install a version of Edge for Windows 10, and you have Windows 7 which has now been superseded by Windows 8 and Windows 10. Backward compatibility is probably the problem even though it says it will go on Win7.

You need the Legacy version for Windows 7.

Best way to missing or wrong driver in windows is
1- Go to Device manager (from Control Panel/system)
2- locate device with driver problem
3- Update /delete option selected.
(If you delete driver then Rescan hardware)
4- Choose find driver on internet (if you not have disk)
Update the driver and reboot.
Let me know if any further question.

Try to copy paste link in the body of message and
invitees in TO: field rather or BCC. I don't know if that is
your question?

Microsoft... | Answered on May 27, 2020

I don't know if you made user profile with preferences, if not do it so the specific setting will load back. Try to reload Mouse driver.
Check also if it gives any BIOS error on startup then you need to change CMOS battery.

Microsoft is no more supporting XP bug fix or updates.
First thing do a complete virus scan. Otherwise Image Suite manufacturer for update.
You can also try to run memory testing from BIOS setup to scan any faulty memory. or just replace RAM memory card.

It doesn't matter is Apple or Microsoft.
It is the wifi card on your PC or apple computer

Most probably the wifi technology is not compatible .
Either try to use a different wifi card in Pc/Laptop
or go to settings of Router and choose lower older technology supported by both computers, if multi mode is not allowed.
