Microsoft XP - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support

Deleting or formatting won't make the data in hard drive erased permanently. Those deleted data is still stored on the hard drive , it's just invisible or inaccessible. Only the FAT or NFTS table is erased (the information about where those data were saved), but the real data are still intact there in sectors of the hard drive. So as long as those data are not overwritten by new data, it's highly possible to recover them. And the MOST Effective way is to rely on some format recovery programs.Try asoftech data recovery program, which can recover data after deeply scanning your hard drive to look for lost data you accidentally deleted or formatted.

You have to change the permissions on the folder that is trying to be accessed to allow full control, but TurboTax is broken in other ways and you may not be able to reinstall anyway. Horrible coding on TT 2008.

The single most efficient way to speed up a PC, is More RAM, as much as can be used. A fast SATA HDD, with a large cache. lots or FREE HDD space.

If you really only have 256MB of Ram then that would be the first thing to change. I would upgrade to at least 1GB of RAM for XP. There are also many unnecessary services that are loaded on start up. You can find many tips on speeding up XP by shutting down services you don't need.

The memory increase should make a big difference.

Heat an iron to low temp . Take a small wet hand towel fold it in half so it's a double layer and place it over the glue , put iron over the towel for a about ten seconds . The glue will be stuck to the towel . You may have to repeat a second time . Good luck .

To begin with, if there is sound, your audio hub is working fine.
Seems to me that your headphones have a borken cable inside the cord...and that is causing the sound to "bounce" from one ear to the other.
Get a new set of headsets.

Don't forget to rate this answer if it helps.

To correct and solve this error, follow this steps:

1. Run Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del or right click on Taskbar)
2. Stop wscript.exe process if available by highlighting the process name and clicking End Process.
3. Then terminate explorer.exe process.
4. In Task Manager, click on File -> New Task (Run…).
5. Type “cmd” (without quotes) into the Open text box and click OK.
6. Type the following command one by one followed by hitting Enter key:

del c:\autorun.* /f /s /q /a
del d:\autorun.* /f /s /q /a
del e:\autorun.* /f /s /q /a

c, d, e each represents drive letters on Windows system. If there are more drives or partitions available, continue to command by altering to other drive letter. Note that you must also clean the autorun files from USB flash drive or portable hard disk as the external drive may also be infected.
7. In Task Manager, click on File -> New Task (Run…).
8. Type “regedit” (without quotes) into the Open text box and click OK.
9. Navigate to the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
10. Check if the value name and value data for the key is correct (the value data of userint.exe include the path which may be different than C drive, which is also valid, note also the comma which is also needed):

If the value is incorrent, modify it to the valid value data.
