When I try to charge my Samsung sl502 I get a flashing light and the camera does not charge. When I unplug the charger and try it again nothing happens no flashing lights or any lights at all. Is my battery bad?

Although the manuals nothing says about flashing red light on charger, my best guess is the battery is defect.
Try to remove the battery several times and start the charging again and again. But when after a few attempts the LED starts flashing again, you better buy a new battery. When you don't use the camera for a longer period, make it a habit, to charge the battery every 3 months or so.
I think the battery was already damaged,a rechargeable battery once you use it,it needs to recharge again so that the battery memory will stay longer.use a new one,regards....
I find it interesting that you say the camera won't charge, rather than saying that the battery won't charge. Are you trying to charge the camera with the USB lead, in the same way that you can charge a phone or mp3 player? This kind of camera doesn't charge that way, I'm afraid. You have to take the battery out, and charge it in the charger supplied with the camera.
Sounds like the lens mechanism is stuck - mine does the same thing after my 2 year old dropped it on the cement. Looking for a replacement lens now, but not having much luck. Read the previous posts for other solutions. Good luck!
take out the batter and clean the copper terminals with a sharp knife, plug into the charger if still not working leave for 30 seconds and re-try, it took me four attempts.
try cleaning the battery(copper bits) try charging it on your lap top, it should flash red green orange, keep unplugging and plug back in again its worked for us
