There is water leaking from the bottom of the door. Is a new door seal available and can this be fitted by the average DIY person.

Sorry about the flood in your kitchen. I take it that your GE machine is a front loader. It sounds like the rubber seal round the door is perished or damaged. When water starts to fill the tub the "faulty" seal lets the water back out again.

The seals are not easy to replace by the average DIY person but can be done. If you choose to replace the seal yourself let me know and I can perhaps talk you through it.

That connector is known as a John Guest fitting, and they will sometimes leak. Make sure the tubing is firmly pushed into the fitting on both ends. If it still leaks, you will need to get a new John Guest fitting. Your local appliance parts supplier should have them, or they are readily available online. You are looking for a fitting that is 5/16 of an inch on both sides. If a new fitting dosen't solve the problem, your tubing may have a pinhole leak in it, and would need to be replaced.

the seal might look ok but don't forget the seal could crack on the bottom, any time the washing machine stops and the water settle
there's more water at the bottom half so the bottom of the seal takes more abuse. so I would replace the sealer and if you can buy a little thicker one.

Sound like new door boot seal needed..if you are able to fit a new one do, out of a diy scale its about 8/10 job.Please leave feedback

it can be quite tricky to fit, you can buy one,I would however advise to get a supply/fit quote from an engineer as he will get discount on the part, unless you are good diy person ,get hired help....

The reset should go in properly. The new seal will be a tight fit which is the way we want it so it may take some force to get it fully seated. If the door is hard to close, then the door seal needs some more work.

check door hinge.

water leaks are very hard to locate as the water always drips from the bottom, it is just a case of detailed looking, after a while there will be a dry white mark where the water has dried out, this will show where the leak originated from, there are a few things at the front of the machine that it could be, sorry can't help much more nearly all parts can be bought by the public and with common sense and taking very detailed notes where wires came from etc, most jobs can be done by a competent diy person with basic electrical knowledge remember water and electric do not mix always unplug from power supply where working on any appliance
