Maytag washing machine will not drain model number lat36ooaa

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service technician.

The model number you gave HE21 comes up as a Maytag hot water tank.
Open the front door of you unit. The model number should be at the top on a tag.
Repost your question with this model number.

Check the drain pump and hoses . Is the machine full of water? If yes then it points to the drain pump...either blocked hose or electrical . The unit will not spin until the water is drained. The drain pump hoses are found both on the front of the bowl and behind the machine.

Sounds normal. Most machines do spit out a little water, rinse for a moment to loosen any trapped soap before they drain and spin.

First be sure that your drain hose is not kinked.If your hose is not kinked then I would suggest that you buy the roller kit for the motor plate and replace the rollers.

The timer will always advance to the next program if the machine does not fully drain. There is ALWAYS a spin when draining the water out, there is only one pump and one motor. The waterlogged laundry maybe telling the timer that there is still water in the tub. Put the machine on "Spin" and cheat the lid switch into thinking that the lid is closed. Use a clothes peg or wide ended screwdriver and see if there really is a spin....

Without a model number all I can say is it is most likely the lid switch. Lid switches commonly fail on maytag washers. http://www.appliance-repair-it.com/clothes-washer-repair.html#Maytag

Water is draining but machine is not reaching it's full spon.

i dont have a model number ..just tip unit prop it up try and spin unit with belt on with your hand ,,than take belt off and spin pump pully..by itself...onthejob
