My HPdv6910 has stopped working. I see the power light and battery light on but the hard-drive light is not on and the screen is blank even after I plugged it for more than an hour

Computer monitor don't work at all.

So basically your monitor's power supply system died.
Nothing much a non-technician could do about it.
Get it repaired, if under warranty, get a replacement before the coverage duration expires.

Try this: Remove Mini from A/C power; remove battery. Hold power button for 10 seconds; reinstall battery & A/C power. Try starting normally. Your netbook doesn't appear to have an external VGA port, or I would suggest trying to connect to an external monitor. Your monitor back-light may be burned out.

Time to look for a new computer. That and take out your hard drive to copy your files over.

Sounds like motherboard problem. Probably not worth repair.

I've got an HP desktop with similar problems. It turned on one day just fine. The next day not. I don't even get the boot up screens. Disconnecting Hard Drive and CD/DVD components do not help. I should at least get some BIOS POST beeps and a Hard Drive Not Found or such. I do not. On occassion it will boot to a blank screen with white cursor in upper left. Most the time no screen at all. On rare occassion it comes right on and boots Windows. I guess it could be the power switch ... but I doubt that.

Acer Aspire 5010.. Power on, but Blank screen/ hard drive light also not.

Hi,
This could be a Power/Switch Problem.
Faulty Hard-Drive.
Solution:- Leave the laptop turned Of And charge the battery to Full Capacity. ( usually between 4-16 Hours ) depending on capacity.
This will also fully charge the CMOS ( memory battery )
then boot the laptop up, and see if this solves your problem.
If not i,d suggest running a scandisk or hard-drive diagnostic program, to ensure that you have no Viruses-bad sectors on the hard-drive.
If you need further assistance please don,t hesitate to ask for more help and advice.
