Hello

First of all press ALT+CTRL+DEL and start Task Manager, there is probably some application (or other process) that is not reponding. You can kill them to let the shutdown continue, and know what is causing the problem and maybe find an update for it.

Also this means that your computer has not been rebooted properly since the installation of important system updates. If you have "Automatic Updates" scheduled on your machine, these updates could have downloaded and installed without your knowledge. To fix this issue, let the updates finish installing, reboot and then shut down your computer as normal.

Click "Start."

Click "Windows Update." Click "Install Updates" to begin the installation of any updates that have been downloaded to your Compaq Presario. When the "Restart Now" button becomes available, click it once. Your Compaq Presario will shut down Windows, finish installing the updates and then reboot your computer.

Click "Shut Down." Because the updates have finished installing and have been installed properly, your Compaq Presario will now shut down normally and will not immediately boot back up.

How to turn off auto timed shutdown of calculator power to get constant power when calc is not in use

I don't think there is a way of turning off the auto timed shutdown. You can cover the solar cells, which will probably cause it to shutdown earlier.

Good luck,

The power light is still on after shutdown

Windows 8, in particular, does not do a complete shutdown, so some service can be completed (e.g. defrag). If this is a problem when not plugged in, search Window for "Power Options" and change your power plan. Note that the power button, selecting "Shutdown" and closing the cover may be set to have different effects, such as hibernate (yes, it is still available), sleep or complete shutdown. You can also enter "shutdown -t 0 -s -f" in a command prompt to force an immediate complete shutdown.

Acer extensa 4620z whe i shutdown laptop it's shutdown but the screen power still remains on untill i hold the power button to off , please help me

It seems that your computer needs to have a reinstall of your original setup, because the driver that tells it to shut down is not cooperating. Hopefully you have your original dvd/cd.

Computer don't shutdown normally, it only shutdown manually by shutting button only

There's a big confusion here...

What do you mean by manual shutdown??

Some of the replies refer to Pressing the power button and wait for the computer to shutdown... while some refers to Holding your power button until the power is off... which are two different things.

Referring to Manual Shutdown #1 (Pressing the button): It doesn't hurt your computer since it is just the same with going to 'Start>Turn Off'... its just a shortcut button!*

Referring to Manual Shutdown #1 (Press and holding the button): This will sometimes result in data corruption, why? Because during the normal shutdown process, Hardrive Read/Write heads are being parked on the SafeZone. Doing this will just leave the head on top of the plate destroying some precious data

My Dell Inspiron 1525 Shutdown Spontaneously

Generally with laps the reason for a spontaneous shutdown is power. Either your battery is low or the transformer for power is going bad or is bad. There is information under the control panel, then power options which show the power settings and a meter to check the amount of power left and what is being used for power. Check those two items and you may fine your problem. Also make sure the battery is properly inserted into the slot, if it is loose a bit of movement may trigger the shutdown.

If either of these work please leave feedback.

How to shut down dell inspiron 530 computer - the button only takes computer to sleep mode

I assume you use Windows Vista.....
In vista the default action of the power button is configured to sleep mode..
So to shutdown the PC you can press "Start - right arrow - right arrow - right arrow - Enter", or you can navigate to the same using the mouse & selecting shutdown from the list besides the lock icon.
You can also change the power button configuration this way goto " Start-Control Panel-System and Maintenance-Power options-change plan settings (under the current plan you are using) - change advanced power settings - Power buttons and lid - Start menu power button" click on settings and select shutdown, apply & save the settings and close this window.
Now you can just click the power button to shutdown your computer.
