After reviewing the info with the same tv sitting in front of me.
seems to be a connector problem in the video board that is connected to the crt. the connector between the video board and the signal board. remove this board, inspect the board and spray and clean the connectors. also try to ruffin up the contacts if possible. also resolder connectors, and check crt board for cracks. this is a known problem with these.
please report back if this helps you.

Your tv set nedd to be serviced. The first step is to check if the flyback transformer is working, measuring the filament voltage of the CRT. If it is OK, the problem may be in the screen grade voltage (open resistor or shorted filter poliester capacitor). If you replace this capacitor, its working voltage must be respected.

You have to enter its service mode option to change the size of the picture. If you wish to know, how to enter service mode, and make adjustments, check the site linked here. It has details about service mode entry and adjustment methods to many brand TVs, including Sanyo.http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Pull up previous posts there, either by type in the Brand name to your set in its search box, or view it in Mosaic / Timeslide / Flipcard option.

Check the input is HD and if using a box unplug for a while and power back---box will reboot etc.

HDMI can be touchy and does not like being disconnected or connected if unit is powered or on.

If the set has a component input for HD try that also instead of the HDMI.

Find problem first, then work on solution

Sample guide : Flyback Transformer

If B+ is OK , then check for low voltage regulators, tact switches

Good luck!

Hello Charles
The audio output section or the speaker of your tV is in trouble. First check whether there is any audio output from its headphone socket at its front panel if provided. If there is headphone socket provided, and there is nosound output can be heard when a headphone pin is pushed in, make sure that the aoudio output section inside your tV is faulty. It is composed of an IC and related components with it. Check whether there is any loose solder points to the solder terminals of that IC. You must have to open your Tv, locate the audio output secion on board, and must have a concept of soldering and solderting equipment and solder wire to proceed. It is a best practice to resolder all the IC soder terminals by applying a little more sodler, as loose soldering points are very difficult to see by ***** eye.
If there is no headphone socket, check the speaker first. It can be checked by using a multimeter for its voice coil continuity. If found opend, repalce the speaker with same type and voice coil reisistance. Its coil resistance will be marked on it in Ohms. According to your fault description, it seems that the speaker of your TV is faulty. Cehck it first. If this does not help you, replace the audio output IC with same number. Its number will be printed on it. This IC will be normally screwed on to a metal heatsink, to radiate heat out of it while it works.
Check these. Best of luck.

One anong your TVs transformers causing the problem. Usualy, on all tvs ferrite cored transformers are used. If the core of the transformer get loosed, it will make a whisling noise. To get the faulty transformer, you must open the back cover of the tv and listen which transformer makes noise. Usually core of LOT will vibrate. After recognising the transformer which makes noise, press its core with a wooden or plastic matereial to sure the transformer under concern is it or not. Fix its core joints with some super glue, without seperating it you can do that. Take caution. There are severel very high voltage points are ther inside the tv.

I have not repaired this model. I have seen this in many, many models of other TVs. My first guess would be you have a power mosfet that is bad. These are usually a surface mount transistor, about the size of a grain of rice. You can also bet you have a bad capacitor as well. This problem may be a bad solder ground on a Heat Sinked IC. And it could be a powerline regulator gone bad. My strongest feeling is the power mosfet. In any case this repair is very difficult and will require an authorized servicer to repair this!

Since the Radio Shack remote doesn't have a menu button, I'm not surprised you can't acess the menus with it. The only Sanyo codes are
Sanyo 0154, 0159 (for TV only units)

This remote was only designed to duplicate the most
common functions of the original (power, channel
changes and volume changes).
You can get a replacement of your original remote from remotes.com

I hope this helps.
