The PS3 works fine but freezes in career mode only. Is this also an over heating issue?

TRY TO UNCUSTOMIZED THE SETTINGS AND TRY THE GAME AGAIN, SOMETHING IN THE SETTING PROBABLY AFFECTED THE GAME.

EA had some problems with bugs at FIFA 11 (freezing). I think they fixed it with a patch, if however you have the patch installed , try deleting it and installing it again.

It doesn't sound like an overheating issue, more of either a disc read issue or firmware issue.

Please try my following tip for re-installing the firmware. If this does not fix it then try cleaning the laser lens.

Failing that, if it is an overheating problem usually it will tell you with an onscreen prompt or shut down with a flashing yellow light

Step 1.

Turn your Playstation 3 off into standby mode (red light on)

Step 2.

Press and hold the power button. The Playstation 3 will beep when you first press it, then beep again 5 seconds later and then beep once more and turn off back into standby mode (red light on). You must now release the power button.

Step 3.

Press and hold the power again. The Playstation 3 will beep when you first press it, beep again 5 seconds later then there will be 2 quick beeps together. When you hear these 2 quick beeps release the power button.

Step 4.

Your Playstation 3 will now start up with a screen asking you to connect a controller via USB. Connect your controller and then press the PS button.

Step 5.

A menu will now be displayed on screen. Select option 3 "Restore File System". This will then ask you to confirm that you wish to go ahead with the system restore. Accept whatever the Playstation 3 says

Hopefully this will cure the problem on its own.

keep it cool. If there's heating, then the fan is unable to blow air and the

Whenever a PS2 game is run in backward compatibility mode, there's always a chance of a problem arising.

There were/are problems with this series of games running on the PS3. You'll have to wait until either Sony or the games publisher release an update to rectify the situation.

The two websites I go to say that there is not an acutual cheat for this game. The cars are all unlocked as you progress but you can unlock certain cars by do doing certain accomplishments.

I have this game and have also looked for this cheat in the past.

Does this freeze up occur around the time the fan kicks on? I've seen several other contributors to FIXYA mention this as a "heat sink" issue. I guess the HD is getting over-heated & melting a soldered connection. This is definitely a problem that a tech should look at. Hopefully your console is still under warranty.
