Mp3 turns on and goes to a start up logo called EAX then the screen gets split into squares with the logo still on and freezes

  • sokeeffe Jul 30, 2008

I 'm having a similar problem. My Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra has recently stopped working. Everytime I turn it on, it freezes at the EAX screen with the backlight on. And since it never fully boots, my computer is not able to recognize it when I attach it. What can I do? Am I going to lose all my music?

When it gets to the EAX screen tap it ******* the right side just above the menu button, wait for the drive to kick in and it should work again.

Buttons won't work

Reset - do the four things in svc mode

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard

60GB Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra stuck in startup loop

mine did the same until i got a new power supply. it requires a 5volt dc pos tip charger with 20 watts. a universal 3-7.5v 2amp charger from radioshack does the trick. make sure the tip is yellow for the charger.

My Creative Nomad Jukebox III will not start. At best, I can get to the EAX screen: this is accompanied by some whirring and clicking (HDD activity?) and then it freezes. On one occasion, it got past this...

I had a failed JB III that acted the same way. I thought it was the hard drive, but turns out it was the motherboard in the player. I bought a used one on EBAY, then transferred my old HDD to the new one (the JB III uses a standard notebook hard drive).

If you're not worried about losing your songs, you can remove the HDD, get a PATA-to-USB external HDD adapter (less than $10 on sale), and reformat the drive, and test the drive to make sure it's sound. If it is, then you have a new portable hard drive. Unfortunately, your JB III is now an empty shell.

This article explains how to perform the "operation" on the internal hard drive: LINK
