Is not really a nintendo problem. The matter is that a week ago I went to one of the store to get my son one of his christmas gift,as I'm approching to the register I asked the employed for 1 super Mario brother game. I pay and left the store came home and wrapped my son gift,Christmas day came,my son started to open his gift and what a surprised when he open the game, nothing was inside, just an empty case and unfortunally I lost my reciept, and my son got so upset.I went back to the store all what they told me it wasn't their fault,it the company responsability the game was wrapped in plastic and new.I'm very dissapointed with this situation, and of course I lost $34.99plus tax.

Tell the person who gave you the gift, It might be embarrassing but if you want a new one and actually get something from the money spent, tell them that it doesn't work and you would like to exchange it at the store. If you really don't want to ask the person or the person is not available, go to the store you think is the most likely place they got it from, with the Boombox and tell them you got it as a gift and want to return it, some stores will allow an exchange something even without the receipt.(If it wasn't bought at that store, try again at another store) Lastly, you can contact Discovery Kids Costumer Support if you still need help.
Take it to walmart or whatever store it may have come from and explain the situation. They're normally good with exchanging items without box or receipt if it was a gift. Good luck
I have a brand new one but I highly doubt that I could get it to you by Christmas. Check out my site and drop me a note, we can go from there. www.autoclockrepair.com I also fix them.
...27 days ago? This is ridiculous. I've just asked this question, but I see now that I shouldn't expect any assistance any time soon. This has really put a damper on my christmas; I just got this as a gift and I can't use it.
being because getting this gift was for a good reason I would take it back asap, being that it is no longer christmas people are taking back gifts due to them being gifts and no receipt so they will not give you a hard time so please take it back.
I lost my dad a little time ago and I bought it as well with some others and mine is not doing that so do it before it is to late. If you have receipt and it is not 30 days old then take it but if it is 30 days old then go to the store and let them know that it was a gift and you would just like to trade it for another one. they will give you no problems

This has happened to me as well. I wasn't able to find a fix, but as you've only had your DS for half a year, it's still under warranty (12 month standard on all Nintendo consoles,) so I would recommend sending it in for repairs. You can set up a repair order here: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/repair/dslite_system.jsp?region=USA&is=s3O
It shouldn't take too long, when I sent mine in on a tuesday afternoon, it was back by friday.
