The online support web page for the DS Lite appears to be quite complete with information and support tips.
I just compared the information in the user manual that came with our DS Lite, and the web page seem much more complete.

SOURCE: deleting a user on nintendo ds lite

It is simple. Your DS/DS Lite needs to have 1 user. You can change the user but you cannot delete the user.

Go to the retailer you bought it from and if you bought it less than two years ago you can get a new one free with the exchange of the old one only if you have the warranty
