Possible that the drain pump /drain valve is not working . it can be struck or it could have failed. Best is to check the voltage during the program . If voltage is present then pump is faulty but if voltage is not present then the controller board is not working ,possible failure in the board.

Why doesn't the water draincompletely after the dishwasher cycles?

It drains as part of a cycle as does the wash and rinse cycles.
Most will drain through a hose into a garbage disposal connection. First I would check the grate inside the bottom of the dishwasher for debris them in the disposal. That issue will slow down the water from draining and timing out the cycle leaving water inside. The water when draining from the dishwasher into the disposal should be seen from above flowing out rather fast if correct. If not? The hose from dishwasher to disposal also might be clogged. This is fairly typical issue for dishwashers, when the dishes are not Cleaned beforehand.

I see a couple of posts about the dishwasher not draining. Mine drains just fine until the final rinse, it goes into the drying cycle (which I do not use) full of water. Any ideas? The manual is very...

To the lady who has water at the bottom of dishwasher. Guess what? It’s supposed to be there. At the end of last rinse cycle the water is at its hottest point. So. Instead of draining this vary hot water it saves it to dry your dishes. Wait about 10 or 15 minutes and water will drain. This is a vary efficient way of drying dishes. It uses no power for drying. Just steam
From the heated water. When it’s all complete the DW will beep 4 or 5 times. After that leave the door down to evaporate moisture. Good luck!!!

Maytag dishwasher not draining fully

Try cleaning out the air gap.  The air gap is not part of the machine, and is located on your sink. If this becomes clogged, it may cause the machine to not drain properly.  Also, I know you said you checked the drain hose and cleaned as far as the filter and chopper blade, but have you checked the lower filter?  There is a filter located underneath the machine that should periodically be cleaned.  To check this, you need to access the machine from underneath by removing the bottom vanity cover. Hope that one of these helps!

GE Nautilus Drain Problem

I had the same problem (water remaining in the bottom) after the rinse cycle. FYI my GE Nautilus is 7-years old.
(1) I disconnected the drain tube at the garbage disposal unit (in the sink) and, using a wire coat hangar freed a 'plug' of sludge located at the spot where the drain tube clamps onto the garbage disposal. I blew into the drainage tube to further clear other 'plugs' I observed but could not reach w/the coat hangar.
(2) I unscrewed the Filter/Strainer on the inside (bottom) of the dishwasher; and further removed the inner filter; cleaned both out.
(3) Re-ran the dishwasher thru complete wash/rinse cycles (to check for leaks. There were none.
Finally, upon completion of the w/r cycles there will always be a small pool of water (residing in the filter area). However my dishes are clean and (after 7-years) checking the drain tube and filters was a breeze.
Hope this helps
