GE Nautilus Drain Problem

This unit is not even two years old and will not drain after the wash cycle ends. I removed the two drain grates in the bottom of the unit, and was unable to find an obstruction. Don't know what the problem is.

I addition to not draining, my dishwasher gets stuck at the halfway mark of the wash cycle. I have to manually turn the knob to get it going again, but now it does not drain at all.

Had clog in garbage disposal. We used a plunger to solve that, but next time we used dishwasher, it wouldn't drain. Any help?

I had the same problem (water remaining in the bottom) after the rinse cycle. FYI my GE Nautilus is 7-years old.
(1) I disconnected the drain tube at the garbage disposal unit (in the sink) and, using a wire coat hangar freed a 'plug' of sludge located at the spot where the drain tube clamps onto the garbage disposal. I blew into the drainage tube to further clear other 'plugs' I observed but could not reach w/the coat hangar.
(2) I unscrewed the Filter/Strainer on the inside (bottom) of the dishwasher; and further removed the inner filter; cleaned both out.
(3) Re-ran the dishwasher thru complete wash/rinse cycles (to check for leaks. There were none.
Finally, upon completion of the w/r cycles there will always be a small pool of water (residing in the filter area). However my dishes are clean and (after 7-years) checking the drain tube and filters was a breeze.
Hope this helps

I think i found a solution to this might not be the manufacturer recommend, but it works for me all the time now .Here is what i found out : on my model, there is a HOT START OPTION,then START,then SHORT WASH,RINSE ONLY. what i do was : WITH THE DOOR OPEN, starting at the HOT START OPTION,i move the arrow toward the end of the cycle ,close to the START line, but a little bit on the left of the START line, then i close the door, when i turn the handle to close, machine running, and for a minute or less, you will hear the pump start draining the water. The way i did that because i figure it just like the washing machine, when you move the arrow toward ALMOST to the end of a cycle, the pump has to drain water out.TRY IT AND PLEASE TELL ME IF IT WORK FOR YOU- GOOD LUCK

There is a product called " Dishwasher Magic " to clean, deodorize, and disinfect dishwashers. Hardware, appliance parts, and possibly grocery stores should carry it. It comes in a rectangular 12 once bottle.
Also, check to see that the drain hose loops up higher than the outlet into the drain so no water will run back into your dishwasher from the drain or disposer.

GE Nautilius Dishwasher - Water will not drain out after washing

HI. check the following areas for faults.

1. Air gap / Drain hoses
If there is an air gap (located in the sink, near the faucet), check to see if it is clogged. Unscrew the top cap and see if there is anything blocking inside. Note: If there is no air gap installed, the dishwasher might not drain properly.

If the drain hose is clogged, the dishwasher would not drain. If there is an air gap installed, it is very common that a hose going from the air gap into the garbage disposer is clogged. Remove and clean the hose. Make sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher.

Note: If you recently had a garbage disposer installed, it is common to overlook removing the drain plug.

2. Broken belt
Some dishwasher models use a belt to drive the pump. Replace the belt if found broken.

Note: Sometimes the belt would just come off the pump. Even though it might not be broken, it is recommended that you replace the belt, because it is probably too stretched out.

3. Pump
Some models have two impellers inside the pump - one, wash impeller, takes care of the wash cycles, the other, drain impeller, drains the water out. If the drain impeller is broken (broken blades, shaft), the dishwasher would not drain. Replace any broken pump components.

4. Drain solenoid
Some models (for example most GE dishwashers) use a drain solenoid to drain water out. Sometimes the solenoid gets stuck, preventing the water from draining out. Try to free up the solenoid. If unsuccessful, you might have to replace the pump assembly.

5. Motor
If the motor is stuck, it is sometimes possible to free it up by manually spinning the motor.

Replace the motor if defective.

6. Timer
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

2 year old GE Nautilus dishwasher

Check the pump, make sure it is working properly and pumping water out. If it is then check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged.

GE Washer won't drain or spin

this is something that you can fix even if your not a technical person . first you have to open the washing machine front panel or back panel , second , follow the DRAIN HOSE to where its connected to a little motor, disconnect the DRAIN HOSE , take the LITTLE MOTOR out and clean it out , it could be clogged.
it happen once and find out the person put the BATH RUG SET
to wash , the rug was so old that pieces of a rubber underneath the rugs clogged the drain , so there was no rinse and no spin.
try it , I hope it helps.

GE Nautilus won't drain after Rinse Cycle

Check disposer plug. If a garbage disposer has been recently installed, it is possible the disposer drain plug was not removed. The drain plug is a plastic piece in the disposer that blocks the hole where the dishwasher hose connects. Also check the hose connected to the disposal. Mine apparently had a kink in it. When I straightened the hose the dishwasher drained at full speed (I recently had a plumber re-route a hot waterline. He must has bent the hose). Hope this helps. If not go to the GE website. That's where I found my answer.

Don't buy this brand anymore, and be sure all your friends know not to also. I have a GE, GSD4000J, it is less than 2 years old, I have used it maybe at most 6 times. Now it will not drain, washes with the same water, does a terrible job of washing. I own a remodeling service, I will never buy GE products for any of my jobs from this day forward. Have not been able to get any help from GE, they don't seem to stand behind their products at all, or care about their customers once you have bought their products.

Doesn't want to wash, doesn't want to drain.

Harry, a common drain problem on these GE dishwashers has to do with the piston nut assy. located under the filter grate in back. You can check it out here: It's an easy fix, it just unscrews. The other issue sounds like a door switch problem. Remove the inner door and take a look at the door latch and switch for any broken parts. back.
