Overflow - Cold water shutoff not working?

We had a bad overflow tonight. I did some troubleshooting by setting the machine at its max load and warm (hot plus cold) and found out that when the water gets to the shutoff point - the hot water is shutting off but the cold water is not. The tub fills to overflowing with cold water and we get a wet floor.

Any Idea what I need to replace?

I hooked a multimeter up to the contacts and I am getting resistance. I honestly don't know if I can clean this unit as it is sealed so I am going to roll the dice and bet that this is something mechanical. Checking on prices now.

Just replaced the valve...27.99$ - not bad considering a service call would be 75$ just to come to my house.

Sounds like the cold water valve is faulty. You can try to remove it and clean the inside if it's clogged or replace it completely.

Whirlpool Cabrio top load washer bleach and detergent will overflow.

Change the bleach dispenser.

Also make sure the tubes are not slightly clogged from residue build up of mildew.

Cold water will not stop running

I am assuming that you are having a problem with the cold water overfilling the machine. If only the cold water is overfilling and not the hot, then the fill valve is sticking.

If both hot and cold are contributing to the overflow when the washer is set to 'warm', then it is also possible that the fill valve hose (that goes from the tub to the fill valve switch) may be loose or disconnected (or possibly clogged).

Cold water cycle has warm water no cold water allowed. sounds like some kind of valve is not stopping the hot water from coming in

Make sure that the inlet hoses are connected to the correct inlet solenoid valve (located just inside the cabinet). If the hot water solenoid was passing water when not wanted, the washer would eventually overflow on to the floor. There may be a problem with the solenoid control circuits which may require professional help to diagnose.

Water in the expantion tank of my jeep grand cherokee seems to fluctuate between the max and min levels

This is perfectly normal. When cold it will be min. and when warm it will be max.Its the normal expansion of the radiator water and this is the overflow catch. When cooling down it will **** the water back in and not air.Hope this helps

Injector hose assembly overflows when filling hot or cold water selections only. Warm water filling does not overflow the hose assembly. Is this a bad injector nozzel valve or something else?

The injector hose is stiff from age, and the injector/anti-siphon assy is probably calcified.

Replace the Injector hose, and injector to tub hose (they usually fail right about this time and are relatively cheap), and clean the injector assembly with calcium remover and a toothbrush. The dole valve to injector assy hose should be fine.
