Unplug the machine, remove the two phillips screws that hold down the top console, flip up the console, with a screw driver pop the two metal clips, just stick the screw driver in the hole and on top of the clip and push back towards the wall and the clip will release,in between the clips you'll see the lid switch,a white plastic harness connector, unplug that then open the lid, grab the frame pull back and up and remove the frame of the washer, look at the bottom rear of the frame and the tub,you should see a spring hanging there, the hole that it was connected to rotted out,you need to drill a new hole and connect the spring to it,that spring keeps the machine from bouncing all around like it is

My kenmore 417 wahser making too much noise, it looks like the inner tub hitting the outer plastic housing. How can I fix it?

Have you tried moving the clothes around in the drum to balance the drum BEFORE you was them? If that works, you have solved the problem! Most people forget that when cloth gets wet it gets heavy so leaving the clothes unevenly placed in the drum dry will make a real problem when they get wet!

Loud banging noise during rinse

Most noises from a washing machine occur during the rinse or spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping during the spin, the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary. This will solve your problem.

Makes a loud banging noise as if the load is underbalanced even through the load is balanced.

HI There
Try this even tho you said it's balanced. Sometimes it looks like but a slight unbalanced can cause this problem.

Washer sounds like off balance during spin

old duets have nut on rear pulley that becomes loose. remove rear panel and tighten nut. check while spinning by hand if pop is felt. if it rotates smoothly then you may need new shocks on tub

GE WPXH214ACC Washer drum makes loud noise when spinning sometimes. We've had it since 2005 & never had this happen before. Washer is level, must stop & redistribute clothes to correct. Just started happening now.
