Gas Self Cleaning Oven: When we tried to use the "self cleaning function" of our oven a "F5 E1" code was displayed. According to KitcheAid this indicates a "Latch System failure". I am looking for what need to be done to resolve this problem. ThANK YOU!

Why won't the oven door lock to start the self cleaning? The door appears to be shut all the way. After hit start, this code appears E1 F5

According to the Whirlpool website, the self-cleaning latch may be interfering with the door, though this would be indicated by an "E0 F5" error code. If that's the case, Whirlpool recommends the following:
1) Press "Stop/Clear" to clear your display.
2) According to Whirlpool, there should be a door switch plunger in the upper right corner of the oven front. Press and hold this so that the door latch will unlock.
However, if it is indeed "E1 F5" (or any other number with those letters in the code), Whirlpool recommends calling an appliance technician.

I am trying to run the self cleaning oven and keep getting a toubleshooting code of e1 f5. Not sure what this means or how to fix it/

Hello- The code you describe- E1 F5 - indicates a problem with the door switch. This little switch tends to fail during or after the 'self-clean' function is used. The switches are difficult to get to on some of these units so plan on just replacing it with a new one. This part is available locally at an appliance parts store with a complete model # from range tag. When power is re-connected, door motor should cycle back to correct position. Remember- techs call it 'self-destruct', so avoid 'self-clean'. The tried and true cleaning methods are a lot less destructive on the circuits and electronics. Let me know if this info helps- have more if needed. Thanks- Ed.

Oven code E1- F5-

Have you checked the back of your oven? In the top left corner you SHOULD find a manual taped there.

Kenmore oven locked after celf cleaning

The E1- F5 error is a door lock error.

The control (TIMER) has likely failed in this instance - BUT...

Sometimes when you disconnect power to a range and reconnect it the electronic range control gets confused.
You should disconnect power again for 15 seconds and reconnect and see if that helps.

If it doesn't cure the E1- F5 error hold the bake button in until E0- F2 appears in the display.
This is the error for a stuck button on the keypad and is the way to clear the memory of the electronic range control.

Sometimes these work, but if the control has failed it won't make any difference.

Problem codes for self-cleaning ranges

My experience (Kenmore Ultra-bake Model 665-72002102) was that E1 F5 meant an error with the oven lock switch. In our case, the latch was partly stuck from food or other debris. Just moving the latch back and forth loosened the scale that was making it stick, and it worked again.
