Kitchenaid Superba Gas Range - Oven temperature problem

The oven will only turn on up to 260 degrees. When I try to key in anything higher, the keypad display just says "error" and sets the temp itself to 260.

Thank you for saving my birthday cake!! I was going nuts trying to figure out why the oven wouldn't set to 350.

The problem is: the temp seems to be 'stuck' at 260 and will not allow any higher settings.

Calling KitchenAid proved to be unuseful. The manual did not have this item in the troubleshooting pages. Resetting the power does not help.

The SOLUTION:
There is really no problem besides that the temp display setting has been somehow set to be celsius (metric system) rather than farhenheit (english system). Changing this setting somehow can be easily touched off without knowing, thus the "I didn't do anything and yesterday it was working fine..." comment from family members.

The FIX:
Reset the temp display back to farhenheit (F). This is done by opening the oven door, then hold down the 'Broil' button until you hear a beep from the control panel. The same method may be used to change from Farhenheit back to Celsius.

Prevention:
I speculate the inavertent change of the temp setting is done while cleaning the flat control panel. So the best thing to do is to always 'LOCK' the control panel when cleaning the controls. This is done by holding down the keypad "3/lock" for a few seconds until the display shows LOCK.

(The solution was already posted when I arrived at this page. I just organized it a bit by adding some details and a preventative comment. Many thanks to those who posted earlier, solving my issue as well. I hope my writing presents a clearer and quicker read to the next person)

I had the same problem. Sounds like the temperature got reset to celcius instead of farenheit.

Open oven door. Press and hold BROIL. should reset to farenheit.

Good luck! I seem to like my range. Never had any other problems and it works great.

Example of our frustrating problem: Turn the oven to 400 degrees and press start. Preheating begins and oven soon gets to 400 degrees. We put our cornish hen in the hot oven and set the timer for 30 minutes. When time is up we take the hen out and it is cold. The oven temp reads 400. We turn the oven off and immediately back on to 400 degrees and the readout says it's at 175 degrees and is preheating again. This is driving us nuts. It doesn't matter the duration: cookies, pizza, turkey, pie -- it always drops temp with no indication it's dropped. We called a service person and they replaced the control panel saying that was a common problem the new panel will fix. It worked for a few weeks after the new panel but is not back to its old tricks again. The oven is only a few years old but we're ready to drop it off a cliff

Thank you!!! I was going CRAZY trying to solve this one. I ran the self-clean last night and when I tried to use the oven tonight, it just kept giving me the ERR message. The manual from Kitchen Aide is useless. Thank you SO VERY MUCH!!!!!

What does errer codes E6 and F2 on KitchenAid Superba oven mean

From the Site:

"F2-E6 - Cancel Key Line Open - Check the connection between the touch pad (keypad) and control board (clock) to make sure it is secure. Select the 'cancel' function and wait 60 seconds. If error code reappears then replace the touch pad, or touch pad and control board (clock) if all one assembly. All F3-E Codes - Oven Temperature Sensor (RTD) or Warming Drawer Defect - Replace oven temperature sensor (RTD)."

KitchenAid Gas Range Model KGRT: Oven temp won't go past 260 degrees. When a higher temp is typed into keypad, it gives me an "err" mesage.

replace the oven safety sensor located in the upper left corner of the oven cavity, its merely a thermocouple and cycles the temp in the oven and is easily replaceable, its a whirlpool part # AP3083985 available from most appliance parts stores that handle whirlpool parts,as this unit is produced by whirlpool corp. for kitchenaid corp.

The flame went out.  Move the oven control back to where it sounds like it is lighting.  After it clicks a few times and sounds like you have a flame set your temperature again.

Kitchenaid Superba Gas Oven Touch Pad not working

We have a gas kitchenaid KGST307HBL9 and the touch pad is blank, but we discovered that you can still touch the buttons and it will work. (example touch bake; temperature; start). It will beep when the target temperature is reached.

Just so we don't forget and leave the oven on, we turn the oven light on as our signal. A little work, but not wanting to "fork" out the money at this time to repair.

Also, if you are handy RepairClinic.com has many items and can also answer question. We've used them for several of our appliance repairs.

KitchenAid gas range superba not reaching/registering right temp.

Always preheat your oven and let it cycle at least 2 times. Your unit may show 350 but the manufactures know that it is not 350. When it registers preheated, it really means that it is at an acceptable temperature to start cooking. If you think that it may not be calibrated correctly, your owner's manual will have instructions on how to recalibrate your oven. You will be able to raise or lower the temperature by + 25 degrees or - 25 degrees. As far as the gas smell, you will from time to time smell a gas smell with a gas oven especially if you are right at it when it ignites. If you are smelling gas when it is not in use then you should be extremely concerned.

KitchenAid superbra range KGST307

I am not a repair man or anything, just an owner with the same gas range slidein appliance. What we have found to work was 1) plug in the probe into the socket in the oven 2) Turn on oven with the probe set at the minimum 160 degrees. and oven temperature to 325 degrees. 3) click start 4) wait for oven to reach probe temperature. 5) oven will then beep show end 6) Click cancel 7) open door and remove probe. 8) wait five minutes before trying to use again. I hope this helps you it has work for us so far. 6)
