Your computer has been set up to be the PPPoE account holder for the modem. if you have a router, you will need to configure the router to login to the ISP account using the PPPoE information so that your router is the account holder for the modem, then you will be able attach multiple computers to the internet using the router.

Plug your modem into the correct port of the router. Plug your computers using network cables into the router. Go to the admin of the router and make sure its turned on.

If you need a user manual go to:

ftp://ftp.dlink.com/router

and look for the folder of your model number.

L cannot get internet when connected to my router, but l get internet when connected to modem directly.

Your ISP allows only one device to connect to their network.
When you change devices (router versus computer),
you need to power-off the ISP's modem, and unplug it.
Connect the router to the modem, and connect your computer to your router.
Plug the modem back in, and the modem will "forget" what device was previously connected.

Connected wireless to router, excellent signal, but unable to connect to internet.

connected to wireless router with excellent signal may not means you are connected to internet. make sure your modem provided by internet service provider has signal! connect your computer to modem directly bypassing router. If you are online that means your internet is functional. Then connect modem to your Linksys router and use your wireless to log on to internet.
Your router wireless signal active and excellent means you are connected to router not necessarily the internet. The modem supplied by your internet service provider with active internet should be connected to you router on WAN port!
good luck!!

I am trying to reconnect to the internet I put a new modem in for my internet service trying to connect my router to my ps3 and it won't let me can you please tell me what i have to do. Thank You

Hi there,
I see that you have replaced you modem. Have you tried connecting your pc directly to the modem? If you do not have any internet connection when connected directly to the modem, you have to call your Internet Service Provider to setup your new modem. If you can access the internet using your new modem then there is a problem with the router. You have to re-setup your router to make it work.

My acer aspire one wont connect to internet. it says it is connected to wireless, and i have wired it to modem but the problem still persists. please help.

Based on your description, the following is assumed.
1. The service to your Internet Service Provider is through a cable or DSL modem.
2. Internet service was initially set-up with your netbook directly connected to the modem.
3. A wireless router was since added and is using the direct wired connection to the modem.
4. The netbook is connected to the wireless access point being provided by the router.
5. The netbook says it is connected to the wireless access point but still no internet access.
The problem is likely due to the modem capturing the MAC address of the netbook when access to the internet servce was initially set up using the netbook directly connected to the modem and now the modem will only allow access with the netbook directly connected to it. You can check this out by reconnecting the netbook directly to the modem. It may be possible to "flush" the captured MAC by unplugging the AC power to the modem, waiting a few minutes and then powering back up with the router connected in place of the netbook. To make it easier, you may want connect your netbook directly to the router's LAN side to check if you now have internet access through the router. If you still don't have internet access, you will need to use your netbook to log onto the router to clone your netbook's MAC address for the router's WAN connection. The router's user guide/manual has directions on logging in and doing the MAC address clone. It will also have an explanation as to what is a MAC address.

Moved router to connect directly to the Comcast modem that also provides VOIP. Comcast activated modem and internet works when computer is connected directly to Comcast modem. Router does not connect to...

Your ISP should have given you the following information...
Static IP, Internet IP Address, Subnet Mask, Gateway, Static DNS 1-3.
With that information at hand, follow tis link to the router user manual and go to Page 11 of the manual to go through the step by step process of setting the router up for an internet connection.

I have an ADSL D-Link modem (DSL-300G)that works fine. I hooked a D Link wired router, EBR-2310 and can't get to the internet. It use to work until one day recently the kid moved wires arround because no...

First: Connect your computer directly to the ADSL modem. It has an Ethernet port.
If you can't get to the Internet while your computer is connected directly to the modem, then ytour router never will either. Call ISP if you can't connect to the Internet when directly conencted to the modem.
Next: Check your router wires again, The modem must be connected to the "special" port on the router. Look at the router. There is one port separated from the rest. Connect the modem to that port. Conenct to the Internet.
Still no Internet?
Reset your router by pushing a stylus (straightened-out paperclip) into the reset "hole" on the router (with router powered ON).
Push & hold for 30 seconds or until the lights do their reset dance. Connect to the INternet.
