Water won't dispense from side by side fridge

I received delivery of new Kenmore Side by Side refrigerator today. My husband installed ice maker kit. The ice maker has already begun making ice, however the water dispenser will not dispense water. There is water coming through tubing and into filter. Please advise as to what problem could be.

Water dispenser running slowly

Hello Cynthia;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

You have a water pressure problem. You need at least 60 PSI water pressure to open the solenoid valves. I suspect you are getting small ice cubes.

If you have well water you are not going to get the pressure for fully dispenser flow.

I have experienced bad water filters. One time our techs received a large shipment of bad water filters. Remove the water filter and test the water dispenser.

With low water pressure you may not want to use a water filter

Ice maker not making ice

I don't recommend repair on this unit. Simple replacement. Try to find Ice maker kit @ local home depot or lowes that is same. You can buy whole kit for $50-$75.00.

Kenmore Side by Side not making ice

This problem is most likely the water control valve on rear of refrigerator. If your ice maker is empty pour tap water inside it and let it freeze. If it dumps the ice then the water control valve. If nothing happens the the thermostat inside the ice maker is defective. Thanks, Sea Breeze

the inlet water valve has a screen on the inlet in the valve which is probably clogged - replace the inlet water valve with a new one, install a ice maker water filter in the water line feeding the ice maker!
